Does anyone have any ideas how pattern matching will be able to keep my number one corner on their number one wr when my opponent puts him in the slot?

Perhaps match-ups are already set up via the depth chart, not tied to a side of the field necessarily?

Strip sacks are in and qb hits are greatly affected by the ball physics on them, Sim just got permission from Rex to say this tonight on the show

I'll give you that, recent results don't indicate that much was learned.

Oh well, sucks nonetheless that defensive assignments are out.

Revis played something like 93% of his snaps on one side of the field as well with you guys

My favorite part was when the guy talked about people who control the safety will be in big trouble this year because they will no longer be able to cover the entire field with one safety. I gotta see that to believe it! Because that's one of the oldest legacy issues in Madden, hopefully the same goes for people who play linebacker.

My favorite part was when the guy talked about people who control the safety will be in big trouble this year because they will no longer be able to cover the entire field with one safety. I gotta see that to believe it! Because that's one of the oldest legacy issues in Madden, hopefully the same goes for people who play linebacker.

This. It really takes away from the game when guys are able to roam the whole field with a safety. It's even worse when that safety isn't even good IRL. Earl Thomas is a center fielder, I'm fine when he does it, but when people do it with Chris conte it's a problem

Great stuff but the thing I wanted the most (Sam/Will backers) did not make the cut. That sounds about right.

I like playing a 4-3 under so those positions matter a great deal in my defense.

My expectation for CFM is that there will be a lot of awesome additions, but the thing I want the most (custom draft classes) will likewise not make it in.

Great stuff but the thing I wanted the most (Sam/Will backers) did not make the cut. That sounds about right.

My expectation for CFM is that there will be a lot of awesome additions, but the thing I want the most (custom draft classes) will likewise not make it in.

I get the distinct impression they would have to effectively rewrite the entire code not only behind the positions themselves, but also the play design, team and position scheme breakdowns, potentially even player traits given new positions, etc. It seems this would be no small feat.

All are needed at some point anyway to take the game to the next level, so given the direction they're going that may end up being a focus for 18...fingers crossed!

I listened to the show recently and he didn't go into specifics about why it's different in M17 though. I get that defenders now have assignments, so I'd imagine that will effect this "tactic" which is a good thing, yet I always felt this tactic was a result of lack of realistic movement. So I wonder were they just talking about this tactic will now rattle your defense's assignments or were they also referring to just covering that much ground being harder or not possible anymore.

Maybe people could tweet them about elaborating on this because this has been a legacy issue.

The bold has always been my thought as well. The only reason it's been possible is the ability to run full speed all over without ever having to slow down. I'd like it to suggest that True Step has made it to all 22 players or at the very least the players you're controlling but I'm starting to feel like that may still be a long way out.
