Re: What's to Become of NBA Live?
Why would I pay $10 for that? I'd rather watch it on TV.
Like I said, if you think that would sell millions or whatever you claimed, you're delusional man.
I don't know why you keep trying to rationalize this idea.

Re: What's to Become of NBA Live?
I don't think any of us are delusional where just outside the box thinkers that think in the most unconventional ways. Barbatrucco idea won't have sustaining power but it will indeed garner interest from basketball purest and NBA gamers for 1yr. When was the last NBA live game that received any interest, you can say NBA live 10 maybe. This idea will reinvigorate the NBA live fanbase that jumped ship to 2k and renew the trust that was lost by pushing these consoles to their very limitations. By focusing on one aspect of the game they will be able to deliver that. The game won't have replay value but NBA live could sell based on the expierence you won't recieve any where else by blurring the lines between reality and a video game.Comment

Re: What's to Become of NBA Live?
NBA live problem is their so called fanbase abandoned ship, now you have 2k gamers such as myself voicing their opinions on what NBA live should do. When NBA live was considered cool the forums were populated, now its nothing more than a ghost town with 10 diehard NBA live gamers and 2k gamers like myself voicing their opinion on wanting an alternate to 2k. The NBA live forum turned into SNL skit with no one agreeing on anything where you have one group for a street game, one group for career mode, one group for customization, one group for franchise, one group for one match, one group for pro am. Just imagine the chaos in NBA lives dev team everyone has their own opinion from top to bottom and nothing can get done. If the NBA live devs are reading our posts right now we are just as confused, lost as they must be with ideas to recover from this.Comment

Re: What's to Become of NBA Live?
I'm not speaking about one simple game. I'm saying that you have the opportunity to play ONE game, like game six 1998 Nba Finals, at the detail, fluidity, atmosphere, animations etcetera identical as you see in youtube video.
u don't spend 10 dollars, only $ 10, to play this match as well as you see in the video? 10 dollars? Exactly as you see it? With the same exact movements, facial expressions, public, etc..?
I can't believe it.
If you don't you would pay just $ 10 in order to play a game like faithfully reproduced the same detail you don't like basketball.
Millions of fans would spend $ 10 in order to play a game so https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpoDl-QzN7Y
I don't think it's possible yet to make the sort of video game you envision. While some games try to be "realistic," we don't yet have the technology/engineering to make games so "realistic" that they're indistinguishable from reality.
Video games sell illusions of reality that are realistic and believable to a point; they do not sell reality. If I want to experience game six of the NBA Finals as it was, I'll watch a recording.
What good "realistic" games try to do is minimize the stuff -- like bad gameplay, bad AI, bad physics -- that makes players stop suspending their disbelief. They absolutely cannot yet eliminate this stuff, but they can try to minimize it.
One of NBA Live 16's biggest problems is that its gameplay can be distractingly bad. I see it as less of a problem in Live 16's pro-am mode, which I think is quite good, and more of a problem in its modes with regular NBA games. Patches have made NBA Live 16 better, but I think this game has much more room to improve.
Last, I don't think the Live franchise's recent performance would merit making the sort of investment required to do what you suggest:

Re: What's to Become of NBA Live?
You maybe right PopcornJones77 for them to ever get it to the point of realism they would have to scrap their engine and remake a whole new one. That would cost time and money not an investment you want to make if your NBA live. NBA live has already got burned in the past by making a new engine with NBA elite 11 which they cancelled for 3yrs. For them to even think of doing this idea, they would have to ask themselves does one does it have sustaining power does two does it guarantee sales of upwards of 1million dollars per yr and I believe the answer to that is no. But my Kobe career mode idea would sell upwards of 4million per year and that's a rough estimation lol.Comment

Re: What's to Become of NBA Live?
This is really sad IMO.....
They had several years to tweak the series based off of what they had created back in Live 10
The game looked amazing when it wasn't in motion
So instead of spending many man hours to figure out to get the game to animate on equal footing with it's graphics EA decides to waist time on other features that quite frankly only last about 1-2 months (replay value) especially if your gameplay is flawed....
They have had the same issues year after year....and we all know what most of those issues are yet they seemed incapable of ironing the issues out.
Year after year they ask for these request on OS on how to make the game better or what would we like to see in the game.....and year after year half those request went INGNORED or UNATENDED TO
They have these community events & game changers speaking on behalf for us and at the end of the day it all just felt like FLUFF.....
Either you take action and give the gamers what they want or just quit the game completely....
This board became like a BROKEN RECORD......THE SAME OL SONG YEAR END AND YEAR OUT FOR NBA LIVE
Guys defending the product despite the flaws that were obvious....Why keep acting like something ain't broken with NBA LIVE?
You take that attitude and EA will continue to be half @SSED with the product they release to us
Not a single person on here could honestly say a feature like SYNERGY ever worked yet they hyped it up as a backbone to authentic NBA gameplay
I honestly believe the OS community had enough legit guys who could edit their game to play more realistic basketball than what EA did themselves out of the box every year.
No one will trust them again just based off word of mouth.....they want our money at full price for half broken gamesLast edited by Playmakers; 05-27-2016, 10:21 PM.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

You and I both forgot to mention like how many times do I have to read an "open letter" from the CD every year? I'm tired of reading open letters. They serve no purpose other than letting us know that EA will continue their duck duck goose/musical chair approach to who will be the CD on the next Live. We've gotten so many letters, they've chronicled enough pages to have a bad chapter section about Live on EA's corporate info page.NBA Live is the epitome of Cancel Culture..

Re: What's to Become of NBA Live?
haha, they should have just kept Live 10 engine. Things were going well, 10 showed potential. It could do things 2k couldn't, even if it looked much more wonky.
But they blew it up. And blew it forever, I think. It's amazing to think that we might never see another basketball game other than 2k.
Edit: I remember back in the day having like 4 bball games. Sometimes you just don't wanna play a certain game... you'll even fire up give and go or whatever.

Re: What's to Become of NBA Live?
NBA live formula of nickeling and dimeing the consumer has finally ran its course. Its seems to be the result of all easports games like madden, fifa to put minimal effort yearly and hope consumers don't notice. This method can only work if your the top dog in town since NBA live wasn't they failed because of it. The removing features that were in past NBA live games than adding the same features in future years solidified this minimal effort yearly approach. The move to mobile is just another way of saying screw the consumer and your high expectations where doing it our way with minimal effort we can one day succeed and scam the next generation of gamers. Just by rehashing older features, ignoring Dynasty, ignoring gameplay, ignoring animation quality we can do just that.Comment
