It will only be unplayable if you don't have PS+. And now that PS4 requires it for online play, that probably won't ever happen. On PS3 it was different because PS+ was optional and not alot of people had it.

I'm not a huge fan of basketball, but I do like to sit down and watch some games every once in a while. However, I never really cared to buy a NBA 2k game before because of not being a huge fan of the sport, so getting it free on PS Plus is fantastic. I've always heard these games were supposed to be really good. I'm sure I'll put some hours into this game and I might even get 2k17 if I enjoy it enough.

So it's June 2nd, but yet it's still not in the PS Plus section on my PS4.

All it is, is a digital copy. You can't play online without Playstation Plus but once you download a game it's on your PSN account, whether you have it downloaded or not. It's always on your account on their server.


So yeah if you buy Playstation plus for a month to download the game it's yours. I've DL plenty of games and let my account expire and they are still there for playing.

I've never been huge into basketball games I think because how long it takes to play a game. How many mins per quarter can I play to get realistic scores? 7-8?

Well then things have changed, because that was how it was. I had PSPlus when it was optional for years and any free game I got from it, would be completely unplayable without it. I know this for a fact because for the occasional month or two I didn't renew it, every single free game I had wasn't playable. Sure, they would be "still there" but you couldn't launch it at all without PSPlus and it would let you know exactly that.

I haven't not had PSPlus since I've had a PS4 so sorrryyy if things changed. No need to degrade me because I gave an answer that was completely 100% true for years on in

I'll guesssssss i'll your word for it that this is no longer the case, or perhaps this particular game is different, but this is a current, updated message from the playstation website

"Once your PlayStation Plus membership ends, content you previously downloaded at no cost as part of the membership (such as Plus Monthly Games) will no longer be available. However, free avatars and content you purchased at a discounted PlayStation Plus price is yours to keep.

If your PlayStation Plus membership expires and you renew it at a later date, you will regain access to content that you have previously downloaded through PlayStation Plus."

Does anyone know if you'll still have to download the full 44 GB if you have the game installed already?

You will still have to download the 44 gb or whatever it is even if it has already ben installed from a disk.
