Re: Ea sports titles moving to frost bite engine (NBA live also)
If there gonna do it they need to do it right and not reuse any old code, at this point they have nothing to lose by starting over just build a core foundation with solid gameplay and animation quality.Comment

Re: Ea sports titles moving to frost bite engine (NBA live also)
The way I'm understanding this announcement is that each EA sports title can actually exist in the same world now, if they chose, as they will be using common physics code, across all sports games... A world where a 4.2 40 in football is the same speed as 4.2 40 in any other sport and can finally be accurately represented across games and avatars. Ignite did this to a degree, but Frostbite is much more robust to tool work with, and its proprietary, which is just another reason for EA hatred from the doubters.
What do you think about users (future?) being able to create one avatar who's actual height and weight (or whatever you choose to create) transfer to any game within the Frostbite 3 realm consistently and accurately.
To compare, it would be like 2k being able to put their basketball game inside their GTA 5 world.
With VR also coming quickly on the horizon this would seem to flow in a logical direction for gaming, as we will soon be putting ourselves in these games accurately at some point anyway....possibly more accurately than 2K or Live or any other game has done to date with any facial mapping or mo-capping. Who's to say we won't be mo-capping ourselves in some way, with this added tech mashed with current tech?
I like the announcement and the hope it brings for not just LIVE, but sports gaming as a whole....of course it has to work right?Last edited by seanhazz1; 06-06-2016, 09:39 AM.Currently playing:

Re: Ea sports titles moving to frost bite engine (NBA live also)
Maybe this is why the dipped on Live 17 making it a late release/smaller game.
New engine, don't bother with the old one (which obviously wasn't working). I know sales had a MAJOR role as well. But maybe this was the whole "lets just buy sometime this year".
Why I keep giving this game a chance for the life of me I cant figure out.
It's the game of my childhood, just cant come to terms that's it over.Comment

The graphics themselves were fine but if the engine change also means a new animation system then bring it on.Comment

Re: Ea sports titles moving to frost bite engine (NBA live also)
This is awesome news. With every single team at EA using this engine it means improvements for every game. The biggest thing most people will notice will be renderer for the frostbite engine will make the games look a lot nicer. More than anything it will provide better tools to make the game better. Hopefully since Live 17 was delayed they decided to simply switch this development cycle.Comment
