im curious to know the limits of ball physics..

    is the ball completely 'live'?

Can it hit linemans helmets? Can it be jarred out more realistically on fumbles?

Nice QB animation by Brady too.

There is something funky about the sack on Eli, the contact by Lawrence seemed weird, felt more like a friendly hug than a sack, no aggressiveness to it. EDIT: No aggressiveness when making contact/starting the animation; the throw down looked better.

Otherwise it looked quite good; hoping to see improved pressure from RE/ROLB with these adjustments

I kinda wish QBs did that 'brace/protect the ball' right before they're hit, especially from a defender w/in their field of vision. Would be a little thing that would go a long way toward making those sacks look better.

That could even extend to rattled quarterbacks, flinching over pressure that's not quite there, etc.

Good stuff. Was happy w/ 16 on All Pro, 17 looks tough.

I really like what I see so far. E3 will tell all tho. Madden 17 has great potential as long as they tweak everything before it gets too op.

I'm no expert in analyzing these short clips, but one thing that concerns me is:

Why is Eli drifting to his right, pretty much causing the sack to happen? Are we still looking at the "one side of the defense gets most of the sacks" which is a killer in a stats/goal based progression system.

He was user controlled so I'm sure they were doing that to try and create a sack clip.

Like I said, I'm no expert at analyzing these short clips. I can't tell what is user controlled and what is not, unless you are just assuming both sides are user controlled.

Your response does make sense. Hope you are right. Sounds reasonable.

Yep, that's the thing about these clips. They are trying their best to manufacture very specific scenarios, so a lot of what we see will look bad in the context of analyzing them from the perspective of making good football decisions.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

But if this is the case then the clip is a complete joke, and doesn't show us the real pressure that is put on the QB, but I'm just saying.

You can see the circle underneath the player and the icons for receivers. It was user-user play. Pats/Dolphins was user (NE) against CPU.

BTW, I don't think I ever noticed TEs chipping against DEs like in that Giants clip. Not sure if that was by design or what.

                          Nice looking tipped ball.

The line play still looks pretty bad to me. It looks just like it did the previous 3 versions. It's very binary still. Offensive lineman sort of shuffle around, and always keep someone in front of them. There isn't a pocket. The DEs are usually in FRONT of the QB, which still makes it madden ball, because there is no need to step UP in the "pocket". You drop back and there is mostly a wall in front so the natural reaction of a madden player is to continue to run backwards with the QB. Yeah, it looks a little better than it did last gen, but you still don't see the DEs get upfield and flush the QB. Also, the one one one battles are still too binary. It consists of the DT throwing the lineman to the ground and resulting in a clear path to the QB. That happens so rarely in real life, yet in Madden you see that 10 times a game. Why can't the pocket be pushed and actually collapse? Lineman should grab, pull, push, etc to attempt to prevent the pressure from collapsing. Hopefully next year we get a real next gen line play implementation, which will allow for stunts and twists as well as the organic war in the trenches.

Guess I'm just used to seeing that circle even w/o controlling the QB. In that "Coach Mode/auto pass", the circle is there even when you are not controlling the QB. It just didn't register cause I'm probably used to seeing that Circle.

I know someone has been asking me about crosses and drags against zone coverages, and this is a good clip to show how that works. Watch how the DB responds to the B receiver. When he crosses his face, the DB sinks back and passes him off to the LB, who immediately steps up to defend.

I really like what I see so far. I really like how the O linemen are riding the DE, and the Coverage reaction is good also.
