Look, something has to be done

    About the bullpens.

I don't know what but it's an almost game breaking issue for me.

    Every single game.

Betances, Chapman, Miller, Capps, Strickland, Herrera & Sale.

Now, I could live with this if they performed as their real life counterparts but as my rating climbs into the high 1700s I'm facing a lot of guys who bring Chapman in after one out and he's going 5/6 innings, and then the others all finishing up.

I am going game after game without seeing a fastball below 100mph - and I'm not complaining about not being able to hit, it's just incredibly boring.

    My bullpen is:
    Perez
    Ramos
    Osuna
    Flashback pap
    Madson
    Koji
    famila

I have played over 240 ranked H2H games and I've never faced anyone currently in my own bullpen - just the same 5 guys, over & over

Its why I stopped playing this last year and have only played one game versus another person this year. Everyone has the same team and plays the exact same way, it is not enjoyable. The pitchers energy rating is completely useless if youre a halfway decent player.

I have Familia and Koji in my bullpen but I'm also in the low 1600s.

One thing I really wish they'd change is how energy is presented. Maybe I'm blind but I can't figure out how to tell if my relievers are tired or not.

lol only about the bullpens? Every team at this point is diamond studs with flashbacks Ichiro, Gwynn, Fielder, Beltre etc

The green bar makes no difference though, Chapman was still throwing 101 after 7 innings so what's the point?

He gets tired and his h/9 & k/9 take a hit? Big deal they're still like 97

I already agreed with you, I responded to the guy that said he didnt know how to see his pitchers energy.

I have a very hard time believing you haven't faced anybody that you have in your bullpen.

Yeah they definitely arent, but im not a huge fan of the way it looks and reads either. And as weve stated, it generally doesnt mean a whole lot anyway.

No, but there's clearly something in the simulation engine that is leading to non-baseball play.

OP is seeing Chapman used for 7 innings of relief. Have you ever seen the Yankees use him that way in a game? If Girardi started warming Chapman before the first pitch was thrown, intending to bring him in in the 2nd and pitch through the 8th, the fans would rightly lose their minds. The energy system is designed to prevent this silliness by making sure arms behave the way they would in the real world; in the real world, Chapman's arm would explode if he tried to throw 101 for multiple innings, so it is clearly not working as intended.

There are always going to be discrepancies that remind you this is a video game and not real life. My Jays in-game are capable of hitting and have lousy starting pitching. Despite that, however, I can still play something approximating baseball with them. Bunt cheese, animation exploits and, now, being able to use relievers like starters? It's like finding a Sega Spot, except I can't give you a charlie horse in retaliation. (I can't find evidence of the term Sega Spot online; did you guys call them something else, or am I so old that nobody else knows what I mean?)

In Dark Souls, players have developed etiquette around taking unfair advantages - or, in some cases, taking advantage of perfectly fair advantages. It ought to be considered poor etiquette to misuse relievers, but instead we see one player finding a way to break the system and everybody else following suit. SDS ought to be able to use the stamina system to prevent these goofy things from getting out of hand.

Well in that sense yes, you shouldn't be able to use Chapman for that long. That's just ridiculous.

The penalties should be more severe when you're throwing with a pitcher who's out of energy.

50% of his pitches should either be meatballs down the middle or wild throws outside the zone if he's tired. Bump that number up to 90% when he's out of energy.

Break on all breaking pitches should be barely there once tired and nonexistent when out of energy.

Fastball speed should receive a negative 5 MPH hit once tired and a minus 10 MPH hit after you're out of energy.

All per nine ratings should be reduced by 10 points once a pitcher is tired and 20 points once they're out of energy.

Right now, the MPH deduction to fastballs is only like 3 to 4 MPH, which isn't enough of a punishment when you're using a guy who starts out throwing 101 MPH.

Plus pitches aren't as wild as they should be in the current system once you're out of energy.

I'm not sure what currently happens to the per nine ratings; I don't know if they even take a negative drop in ratings?
