Quickest and Easiest way to improve Online Ranked

I think it's fair to say the majority (if not extremely overwhelming) number of players get annoyed, frustrated, and/or simply bored by online ranked mode because you, by and large, fight the same fighter 95% of the time in any given weight class.

How great would it be if the set up process where you click the weight classes you're willing to fight in provide one more step: you can select one fighter in each weight that your opponent cannot use.

This would make the game exponentially more fun for me. I fight the same 5 f$&@ing characters 99% of the time. Just give us the chance to avoid Conor, Lawler, Rockhold, Jones -- not because they're unbeatable, but rather to add some variation and fun to this damn game

Been asking for this for a long time. Would love it. Will never happen. I think the UFC plays a part in this too. They want you to be able to use your "favorite" fighters. Even if they are the top rated fighters.

Lol, everyone will just pick the second best fighter in the division. Nobody ever wants to put themselves at a disadvantage.

I still think an equal stats mode is good, then people cant complain.

      But yeah, it's hella annoying.

That isn't the point though. Playing against the same characters over and over again is. If you could block Jones and not have to play against another player using him for the 1000th time you played a division, it would help a lot. Even if they pick the second highest rated fighter. This is why most of my time has been spent in Ultimate Team.

I like the equalized stats too, but don't think they mess with the move levels. This alone could still make certain fighters better than others.

I'm not against this idea. I'm for anything that solves this problem. I'm just saying that's what people will do.

You know what would be cool? A mode that picks your opponent stats at random like you don't know their stats until the match starts.

So you could be assigned an 84 jones at random vs a 96 ilir latifi. I'd play that mode all day. That would keep things fresh for me.

True but not the point. I was still in div 6 putting myself at a disadvanatage, not knowing how good my opponenet was going to be

Good idea but yea not sure if they'll make it that complex

would be nice if they simply adjusted the scoring system a bit --- currently if you are OVR 85 and opponent is OVR 90....you get +1 points (fighter ranking difference)

Would be nice if, in this example, you got at least +3.....maybe even +5??...and opponent got -2 or something?

The numbers can be discussed/tweaked of course but overall, ranked is better in UFC 2 compared to UFC 1 by far, but a few more tweaks/improvements would definitely bring it to the next level (ELO ratings etc)

Thankfully Ultimate Team and Live Event Competitions are here as well; I'd probably have burned out on this game already if it was only ranked, but the other modes have some good variety if you get sick of fighting stupid freaking JBJ every fight

What about an option to fight with random fighters. You choose this, and it matches you against someone else who chose random.

Perhaps it gives you guys in a similar overall range, so you don't wind up with Lawler against CM Punk? Maybe even break each division into 3-4 categories (dependent on size of roster in that division).

Yeah, this is the best idea so far. Have it so you BOTH choose random. I'd do that all day.

I dont like the equal stats idea.

If i pick a fighter with lower stats its because i want a challenge, i don't want my opponent to have equal stats as me if he picks jon jones.

I think there should be a random mode! Keep their stats like they are and have a random mode where fighters have to be within 3 overall points of each other.

A few counters to some of the responses to the original post:

                            - even if the second best fighter is picked, at least I get variety. Also, as a second counterpoint here, often the difference between the best fighter in a division and the second best is so big, it wouldn't really matter any longer as their are typically multiple fighters you could argue as the second best.

                            - I don't like the equal stats idea because I like style clashes. I don't have a problem if that were an option though, then everyone wins and can choose as they please

I simply want to be able to fight any weight class and pick just one guy per division Id like to avoid. The game enjoyment would increase exponentially if I never see Lawler, Jones, Rockhold, and McGregor again

I second this idea. One of the earlier iterations of the game had this... lot's of top-ranked fighters would choose this and it was a great way to test drive new fighters on a somewhat level field.
