    PS4K Confirmed

Alright guys, so now that PS4k (NEO) has been confirmed (and likely to be released this holiday season), what are everyone's thoughts? Will you be buying the upgraded system?

But more thread pertinent, do we think MLB The Show 17 will showcase such incredible graphics? The ability to showcase an already beautiful game with 4k definition could be a really energy boost to what some consider a bit of a stale franchise right now.

I'm pumped, and definitely diving in headfirst if this is the case.

You can find more info regarding the matter http://www.gamespot.com/articles/son.../1100-6440644/

I feel all the sports franchises will be pushing their graphics to the limit when the new consoles come out. They will probably release a lesser version graphically for the current consoles but it will still be better than what we currently have.

Will definitely be upgrading. I've had a PS3 and now a PS4, and the only games ever played on each has been MLB the Show. I plan on keeping this record intact.

While I agree with this, I am a bit nervous SDS won't go the 4k route immediately. People have been clamoring for new player models for 3 or 4 years now, but nothing has come of it.

I understand they're still maxing the console's memory/bandwidth out with stadium and crowd textures, but if this franchise REALLY wants to make it's heyday, I'd like to think new player models with 4k textures involved would be the way to go.

          Re: PS4K Confirmed

My understanding of everything that has come out (mostly from Digital Foundry) is that not all games are going to be in 4K. Developers can still choose to go with 1080p.

I'm guessing developers will decide on a case by case basis.

Also, the most interesting thing to me is if older games are going to be patched. Obviously, I hope they patch this game to achieve a higher frame rate, even if the visuals don't change at all. I would think Sony would want all first party games see a bare minimum performance patch.

That's assuming you don't just put a PS4 game into a PS4.5 and choppy frame rates go away.

I will not be purchasing. Not much of an upgrade. Waiting for TV to start broadcasting in 4K before I make my move.

If you don't have a 4K TV will the new PS4 even make much of a difference?

Very few games will even hit 4k anyway. I really doubt you ever see the Show in 4K on PS4. Its still just not powerful enough.

What would the market be if some games can't display 4k on a ps4k?

Its not actually called PS4K as far as i know. And all you have to do is look at the rumored specs to see that its not gonna be able to do it unless its like a 2D game.

                        Re: PS4K Confirmed

This seems more for people that are still rocking the PS3, not for people that already have a PS4. The fact that the feature set for games won't be different on either PS4 consoles means there is not much reason to upgrade if you already have a PS4. Slightly better graphics and 4K support doesn't justify upgrading if you already have a PS4 in my opinion. Not even sure that would affect "The Show" since, as I mentioned, the feature set has to be the same on both versions of the game for PS4 and PS4.5 or PS4K or PS4 Neo or whatever they are going to call it.

Games I'll benefit from higher frame rates and/or better visuals. And not all games will be in 4k anyway.

I don't have a 4K TV so can't see myself upgrading this year.

How will data transfer? Would Sounds of the Show easily transfer over or have to do it all over again () if we make the switch?

The thing is have u guys seen a 4k tv? its really not the jump it claims to be. Nothing like when tv went from standard to HD.
