Bob's Sliders for Jbrew's Fatigue off play

-I would like to begin by thanking Jbrew. His suggestion to turn fatigue OFF is indeed the key to making this game great. That being said, I wanted to share the sliders that I believe compliment jbrews no fatigue approach and help provide a realistic and fun experience. Take note I am an average skilled player. I love to play with some old time teams (thanks Carl!) so I have included a set of sliders that i find produce more of the defensive run oriented style of past eras. If you try these give them 3 games to see if they are the ones for you.

I have settled upon the following sliders after a lot of games. They work very well for me and I hope they do the same for you!

    Offensive Skill Heisman
    Defensive Skill Heisman
    Injuries On
    Fatigue Off
    Quarter Length 6
    Play Clock On
    Game Speed Very Slow
    Min Threshold 25
    Home Field Advantage Off

    Offsides 80
    False Start 30
    Holding 50
    Facemask 5
    Offensive Pass Interference 51
    Defense Pass Interference 50
    KR/PR Interference 5
    Clipping 50
    Intentional Grounding 77
    Roughing the Passer 30
    Roughing the Kicker 0

SLIDERS FOR MODERN DAY TEAMS (1971-present):

    User CPU
    QB Accuracy 10 25
    Pass Blocking 55 40
    WR Catching 5 40
    RB Ability 60 50
    Run Blocking 0 30
    Pass Coverage 35 40
    Interceptions 35 35
    Rush Defense 30 15
    Tackling 20 25
    FG Power 75 75
    FG Accuracy 30 40
    Punt Power 50 50
    Punt Accuracy 70 70
    Kickoff Power 40 45

SLIDERS FOR TEAMS OF the 1960's and before:

    User CPU

Anyone trying these out, or any slider set/settings, make sure you are trying them out in dynasty mode and not in play now games. Sliders/settings work differently between modes.
Relax, it's just a video game!

If anyone is trying these i would enjoy hearing of your experience. I for one find a significant difference in game play between the modern and old school (less scoring-more defensive) versions. Again, thanks much to Jbrew for his super idea about fatigue off-. This remakes the game for me !

First BIG THANK YOU to Jbrew for the heads up on fatigue off...I know Jbrew runs pretty much default except his preference is to lower the tackling to make it more realistic...that being said, when I wasn't playing my Coach Mode dynasty I ran Jbrews discovery through the paces and he was exactly right, THIS CHANGES THE GAME FOR THE BETTER...my only problem is that since I'm older (cough, 47, cough) my stick skills aren't what they used to be...video games, the other stick works just fine thank you very much...lol...anyways...default with lowered tackling is for those who want an extremely difficult challenge...As Jbrew warned us, it's tough, really tough, you better get used to losing and you better buy a couple extra controllers, cause YOU WILL THROW ONE! Been there done that...

That being said, yes I have tried yours and have ran them through 6 games so far in my year 1 New Mexico dynasty that I previously ran in Coach Mode...GREAT SLIDERS...They provide a really tough challenge, I was down by 14 in game 1 against UTSA and game back to win it. Won the next 3 and they all had variety to them, had to win according to my strength's and play smart because there was a feeling through each game that if I didn't bring my A game, or call a smart game I was going to lose...In games where I played teams that had a better O line than my D line, I was getting steam rolled against the run and had to bring 8 and 9 guys in the box to shut it down and then I would get caught cheating up and blown up for a long pass play...The other thing is that I really felt with these sliders that MY QB played closer to his ratings and real life...Neither myself or the CPU has gotten more the 60% completion percentage and I've had to earn the run game...

Speaking of that, I got absolutely hammered by UNLV game 5, lost by 18 points I believe, because I was used to leaning too heavily on my QB and New Mexico or any other 65 team just shouldn't be able to do that all season long. After a frustrating loss and (3) picks I decided to abandon my custom playbook and run the New Mexico pistol and play to the teams strength in the running game. Bounced back against Nevada and beat them by patiently running from the pistol and making smarter shorter passes. The bottom line of what I'm saying is that I couldn't make my team play outside their game because sliders allowed me to, the sliders played true to real life and I HAD TO MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT.

Good stuff and I will be playing out the season with these sliders. ;-)

          PEACE

                Hey guys,

I have made a couple of minor adjustments to the sliders--these are now reflected in the opening post.

One more thing. I think you will find (especially with the "old school" sliders) that you get a lot more defensive battles. One of my friends who is using these says he now finds it fun to play defense.

from testing a few teams with inj rating zeroed out, i was able to have a few injuries, mostly 1 and 2 quarter kind. very limited testing and in play now mode, but could be an option for more players to play with fatigue off. just in case anyone was interested.

Re: Bob's Sliders for Jbrew's Fatigue off play

Just had a great game. I was playing with Carl's 1966 roster and had Arkansas on the road against Texas Tech. It was a true defensive battle. My defense shut down their run game but their Qb (Scovall?) had an annoying habit of hitting long passes especially to his tight end and outstanding wide out Dave Parks.

They scored first but I can back on 3 field goals (I could drive a bit but their defense always stiffened) to lead at half 9-7. The 3rd quarter was more defense and punts. Then at the start of the 4th period Parks made an amazing catch on a long heave between two of my defenders. They went for 2 but I stopped them and they led 13-9. We traded punts . The with little time remaining I pieced together a final drive. I got just inside their 20 -and had a 4th and 2. My fb picked it up and then I hit a short pass to my wide-out to get first and goal at their 2. They stopped by runs on the first 3 downs. Finally with 4 seconds remaining my QB sneaked in and we had a VERY hard fought victory.

Its nice to win but best of all this DID feel like "old time" football. No runner on either team averaged more than 4.0 yards a carry and both QB's were under 50% in pass completion percentage. Not all of my old time games are this defensive (and you wouldn't want that) but I do get quite a few which , along with some higher scoring contests adds a slice of realism to the idea of playing 1960's football.

I also get some defensive battles with my "Modern sliders" but with these I get a considerably greater number of the high scoring games we have today. There are really not that many difference between the "old" and "modern" sliders - but the ones there are make quite a difference.

Does the very slow speed not kill the game? WR routes aren't what they're supposed to be and man on normal it already feels too slow anyways. Can you get the same results on normal speed?

Actually, I don't know. The "very slow" speed works for me and seems very realistic. For example, when I or the CPU has a "star" receiver, I can tell it-he is truly a presence! Also, I love the animations on "very slow".

The best I can say is try it out for yourself using very slow and normal speed and see how things go. If you do I would enjoy hearing about your experience.

Had a great game yesterday. I was Michigan vs. Michigan State-using Modern sliders. Michigan got out to a 19-7 lead but as is so often the case with quality opponents Michigan State came back. Late in the 4th State led 35-31. I had the ball & pieced together a drive that took me to the Michigan State 22-4th down and 5 to go with 52 seconds left-and I had exhausted all of my time-outs.

Despite a furious rush my QB (who had come back from an earlier injury) hit my star tight end between 2 defenders at the Michigan State 4. For a brief moment I saw victory-then I saw the state defenders viciously sandwich my TE and..... he couldn't hold the catch.

After that, State quickly ran out the clock. It was a great game-and had an outcome hauntingly similar to what happened in real life.

I enjoyed the offensive output in this games-some long runs and a Kickoff return for a touchdown . However, despite the considerable offense it was big defensive plays that made the difference-a fumble returned for a TD (by me-Yea!) a pick six (by the "other guy" -Boo!) and of course the savage twin hits that jarred the ball out of my Tight end's hands and sealed the State Win.

I will try to play an "Old School" slider's game later today -pitting some the the 1960's teams in what should be a more defensive battle.

I made a small adjustment (see first post) to improve the CPU run game. Specifically, I dropped Human run defense to 30. However, if you are playing against a dedicated wishbone team keep Human run defense at 35.

I also made a slight adjustment in Human tackling ratings to compensate for the lowering of run defense. Cpu running is now 45
