Madden NFL 17 Video - Broadcast Presentation Package

Nobody wants their game to be the third string commentary team or the class d broadcast package. Like what fox or cbs use. That would be boring. EA wants presentation to be flashy to bring the casuals back.

I kind of feel like presentation is going to be used to attract the casuals more too, with gameplay being more for the hardcore. Which I'm fine with as long as they keep the flashy presentation stuff in CFM authentic, MUT and draft champions can have flying monkeys in stadiums for all I care. I actually saw someone on Twitter say they would like to see Madden add survivor horror elements to the game[emoji849]

One more thought on this:
Are people really advocating to limit the video game because of the limitations a real broadcast has? Like someone said earlier, if ESPN, FOX or CBS had the chance to do lineups like in Madden, they'd jump on it.

If the NFL would allow them to set go-pros on player's helmets, that would revolutionize the way football is watched.

If they would be allowed to have cameras all around the field at all heights without interfering with ball trajectory, they'd get all sorts of crazy close-ups, and not only on replays.

There's only two reasons why this doesn't happen:
Access from the players and player safety

A video game doesn't have this limitations so Madden is basically providing what networks dream of having, so I can't understand what the issue is.

Complaining about the broadcast elements missing some features and depth is one thing, and actually a fair complaint since we've had flyovers, great stadium shots from the blimp and team entrances not so long ago... But complaining that the game is not 100% copying what a network does is quite weird imo

I think presentation is the one aspect that will benefit the most from the Frostbite switch in the future, so one can only hope the missing depth to the presentation and feel of the game is coming in the near future

My opinion is gameplay keeps me going for so long but presentation keeps the game from being stale over the long term. Especially since I'm a mostly offline CFM player I need for it to feel fresh every time I put it in. I think having different presentation elements depending on day of the week or playoffs helps this immensly.

Cool, but they don't make the game just for your taste. I reckon a lot of people dig the new intros and line ups, just as there will be people who don't.

The problem is, dudes who like to back their requests as SIM or realistic, go overboard, which is the point brandon27 is trying to make. For all you know this is the type of player intro some networks will use this season, what would you say then?

The game is not produced by CBS or ESPN, it's EA Sports and it's only logical they use their brand as broadcaster, that doesn't mean it is not broadcast style or even realistic.

The game is supposed to strive for simulation of the sport, not a simulation of broadcasting the sport. "What you see on Sunday's" refers to the action on the field not how we see it on tv.

I was just speaking for myself, referring to his comment about liking video games because they do things real life can't. With sports sims I like them to be as accurate as possible. I don't like anything that breaks immersion, or the illusion that isn't a mechanic to help me play the game. That's just my opinion.

It's also my opinion that this is corny, even if networks did this, I'd think it was corny.

Also the game is striving to simulate the broadcast of the sport, they said it in this very video, hence the video intros. Tiburon taking creative freedom in presentation is fine, it's their game, I just don't like what they do.....

How close to what we heard in the EA Play trailer do you guys expect the commentary to sound? Personally I think it will be exactly like that or really close, what do you guys expect?

Honestly I'm setting my expectations a bit below my usual range because I believe they said the same thing when they first got Nantz and Sims on board. However, I am VERY excited to hear some commentary hopefully tomorrow from clips. Any idea when they'll be dropping content JP? Not in a rush or anything just curious.

I don't know if it's so much advocating the limitation so much as it's just preference. I wouldn't be against the out of the box stuff if it didn't feel so out of place compared to everything else. I don't think any of the stuff they've done to go "beyond the broadcast" has ever made me go "Wow, I'd like to see that be able to be done in real life." It's always been the stuff that looks close and similar to real life that has wowed me the most personally.

I think another thing is how they like to throw around "authentic" as well. If you're trying to go beyond the broadcast then nail the authentic part and go beyond that. I'm not a huge fan of the mishmash between some authentic stuff and mostly beyond the broadcast type stuff. That's just my personal preference though which is all any of this will ever really be.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I'm excited to hear it but I honestly don't think it will be anything like the trailer. Nantz and Simms sounded much better in the recorded intros they did the last couple years than they ever did in game. Based on the last several years and previous overhauls of commentary I don't see them suddenly taking such a drastic leap in referencing and flow like the clip shows but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised on that front.

If EA truly wants a beyond broadcast type presentation, why do they basically copy similar on screen items (score bug, qb intro box, starters (madden 15/16), etc) that CBS uses.

It's possible that they use CBS style graphics for inspiration but they want to add their own twist to it. They can do more that way.

My expectations are high based on what's been said by the game changers. When they say the commentary flows well throughout the game, that gets me excited. Either way it's going to be an upgrade IMO.

I think the new commentary will be better than Nantz and Sims. Plus it seems like the new guys are able to come in and record more than Nantz and Sims used to. Also they are both together when doing the commentary now instead of one recording in one spot and the other recording some where else.

Since the videos coming out tomorrow are supposed to be direct feeds we should be able to hear some of the commentary. Unless they turned it off.
