All the talk of "cfm being a focus for 17" after 16 released had me hopeful, then the cfm blog came and I was like ok where's the rest. They did nothing to make the mode feel more alive. How hard is it to rip the coaching carosouel from NCAA?

Re: Madden NFL 17: Gearing Up For A Big Season
The most frightening thing i've seen in the gameplay clips thus far is pass blocking. There is more than one instance in gameplay videos of an o-lineman having a 1 on 1 with a d-lineman and simply letting him run by untouched to the QB. I understand these clips are "work in progress", but the development cycle is far enough in that I fear this may be a constant issue with this years title.Comment

I also agree with duece and the others about CFM being included in the bad. Not sure how it received all this attention and is being touted as the deepest franchise mode ever. (Maybe the deepest on this generation) but it is severely lacking in the depth department.
My hopes of commentary providing any type of immersion in my franchise are starting to fade as well.Comment

Must of missed the past 4 years part. My bad, but they can really say that every year if they add one new thing and not take anything out. So technically I guess they were accurate. Though as you said, not that hard when so much has been removed from previous generationsComment

Your hopes of commentary providing immersion in CFM are starting to fade based on what???? There's going to be a lot more immersion in CFM with the commentary just based on the big decision stuff alone.

Re: Madden NFL 17: Gearing Up For A Big Season
I don't think people understand how much time it takes to add new big features and get them to work properly. I feel like people's expectations for one cycle of CFM should be for 2-3 cycles. I was very impressed by the amount of improvements made to CFM this year and if we get formation subs and edit draft classes as part of continuous development still, I don't see how this year can be disappointing to people.

Madden 05 had a great and immersive franchise, then they scrapped it for 360 and we were missing most of the features we had in the past. For 7 years, people kept saying, "they're working on it. "
Then, finally, we get a decent franchise mode in Madden '12. What does ea do next? Scrap it and start cfm when going to xbox one. Again with plenty missing features. Now yet again we're hearing, "They're working on it."Comment

It really comes down to the mentality of, "Add the things that I think are immersive and realistic and don't add the stuff that I feel is fluff or don't care about"
Most people simply aren't going to accept a characterization of "deepest" ever if they're unhappy with the core aspects of the mode or about certain features not being there. Energy should not be wasted trying to convince them otherwise.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 17: Gearing Up For A Big Season
Hold'up!!!!!!!
Expecting too much, too soon??? When told to expect the deepest franchise mode to date? Some people will just go the extra mile to defend stuff huh?
Nobody here was expecting a perfect franchise mode, we were expecting a deep/renewed franchise mode. I think we can safely say now (months before release) that's not what we'll be getting; and please don't bring up the "continuous development" mindset because adding formation subs WILL NOT equal having a deep franchise mode.Comment

12 cycles and two gens later and we've finally gotten an in-game score ticker back. It took five cycles to get full player editing back. Let's not act like this isn't something they've completely brought on themselves with the two humongous steps backwards they've taken over the years in regards to franchise.
It's been 12 cycles since we first had RFA's, five cycles and counting since the new CBA and no fifth-year options for first rounders. Time isn't the issue. The fact that we have to talk about things that should be basic to an NFL franchise mode (premise, not implementation) as being "big features" is horrible. That's day one stuff. The priorities and execution is where the disappointment lies.Comment

This. I wasn't expecting anything monumental but I for sure wanted to see a change in direction to get me excited even if it meant taking a step backwards to do so.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 17: Gearing Up For A Big Season
As for asking for too much, I agree with some of the other posters. They add stuff no one requested (big decisions, xp, etc), but leave out other wish list items. I understand you can't put everything back in in one cycle but CFM has been around bow for a while. And they touted CFM as the KEY to add things more easily since everything was one mode. They said they didn't have use resources on superstar mode because now everything is under one mode. I just don't think Madden has had that many years where we were blown away by the newer version. I enjoy playing Madden, but not as much as I did in 2005. Part of its my age, part of it to me is the lacking franchise mode.Comment
