Madden and Virtual Reality Gaming
I was thinking today about the future of video games and how virtual reality could effect sports games. I've already seen it used for some other games and it looks incredible. Now, imagine a version of first person football where you can actually look around as you control your player by turning your head? or maybe a re-imagined passing cone that moves as you actually move your head to look around the field for your receivers. I'm really excited for the possibilities. Anyone have any other ideas for how a virtual reality headset could be used in Madden? Do you think it has any chance of happening in the future? Would love to hear your thoughts.Tags: None -

I def think there's a place for it. Football seems like a match made in heaven for a vr sports game. I won't touch it bc it's not my cup of tea but there's potential for it to be big.I was thinking today about the future of video games and how virtual reality could effect sports games. I don't see first person doing very well, but a similar angle that we play at could be a pretty amazing experience. Would need to be on PC though, we won't have consoles that can put the kind of fidelity that's in the current Madden at the proper framerate and resolution per eye for probably a couple of console generations.Comment

Re: Madden and Virtual Reality Gaming
Maybe. It's about as powerful as a 980ti, which is what I have. I don't have a vr headset but I could see a lot of games running just fine on it

Re: Madden and Virtual Reality Gaming
Personally this is something ive thought of and wanted since rumors of VR was around.I would love it, as ive always preferred a camera angle closer to shoulder height to give me the feeling of actually being a real player on a NFL field in an NFL stadium. To me thats a dream and is top notch.
Also i would note, Rex has said publicly he really likes VR and would like to have it in madden. That said , if it ever does, i would not expect it before 2018-19 at best.
This statement is very true, and while i know some wont like to hear this, but thats because people want a view that is unrealistic .Im sure any real QB in the NFL would love the view we have in madden when he plays. To me a VR view would really show people how hard making proper reads in real life really is , and how fast you have to do it. Ive always felt this way about the view used in madden , but i understand its a video game and if it was that hard, most wouldnt like it. So i get it.
I would always want a view that makes me feel like im on the field and making real football reads based on what i can see. I closest thing ive seen in madden was the madden 10 online co-op mode. Most people i played it with quit within first quarter because of the lower camera angle, and the fact you couldnt look around you. But it would stil let you play game by yourself as long as game started , so thats what i always ended up doing. Personally i loved the camera angle, the only thing i felt it needed was the ability to look around your player ( like turn his head if you will ). That and letting you switch after snap was what that view needed. You see the crowd and stadium that has a much more real feel to it . Putting you closer to the players, and field. I just really enjoyed it and would love to see a view that puts me on the field.

Re: Madden and Virtual Reality Gaming
I think right now the best option f9r VR would be the return game. That seems best suited for a really awesome 1st person experience.

Re: Madden and Virtual Reality Gaming
And it still holds true to this day. Doesn't make it a bad thing.
I wouldn't mind seeing a return of first person football like the old fever series had though, and it seems like that would be one of the steps in a logical path towards VR.badComment
