    Practice Squad Advantage

Hi all. I am just curious about this since I know a lot of people are excited about getting the practice squad in but after thinking about it some.

What is really the point ?

Since you don't really practice like in real life and anyone can sign a practice squad player off of your team in game terms what is different than if someone gets injured just grabbing a free agent and signing them to a 1 year deal. I mean it's not like you get to have inactive players each week, everyone on your roster except Practice Squad guys are available every game.

Beyond the fact that NFL teams have Practice Squads how will it change roster management in the game ?

1 thing i like about it is in Madden 16 when you started a Franchise, the rosters had all the practice squad guys on them so if u didnt do 32 team control, the CPU would cut random guys to get down to 53 and sometimes make stupid cuts.

With practice squads you should be able to start a franchise with accurate rosters since those practice squad guys will have a home.

      Practice Squad Advantage

Here's my take on the practice squad.

Say you draft a WR in the late rounds with elite athleticism but pretty average or below skills.

This WR may not be able to help you immediately (few late rounders/UDFA do), but has the athleticism/development traits to help in a couple years.

You can stash him on the PS, running the risk of someone snatching him up, and he will gain experience and improve weekly through training. 3 years in and he could be ready to play.

It looks like to me that this will be a great tool to keep guys around that can be contributors later but are not ready yet.

If the practice squad is implemented correctly the roster will still have to be cut down to 53 so you will probably see cuts you don't like.

It *should* still be better than it was in previous Maddens, if it is implemented correctly.

          Emphasis on should [emoji16]

Basically exactly this. Players on practice squad still gain XP and can be upgraded.

So they can XP just by being on the Practice Squad ? If that's the case I understand the advantage then.

If they only get XP by training them then I still wouldn't see the point because I likely wouldn't waste Training On Practice Squad guys over guys up on the roster.

              Thanks.

Training slots not beholden to roster limits, Could stash a few RBs and a couple of QBs you're grooming to come up in the world - or you might get lax and they'll sign to another team because you didn't cut one of your 53 and make your arrangement more permanent. It's a new element I'm looking forward to.

Does anyone know if cpu controlled teams will try and sign players off other teams practice squads? Including human controlled and cpu controlled ones?

Yes the CPU teams will poach PS players from your team and other CPU teams.

Yes, they earn XP from gameplanning/practice and I think team goals. I'm not sure you can make them focus players though.

Yep. You will receive a notice when the AI poaches one of your guys. They also all automatically get added to your active roster when your season ends.

Would you say there is a good balance between cpu teams signing regular free agents and signing players from your practice squad

Not enough information to know yet.

It's a different thing though. PS players are younger and likely not ready to contribute, so it might be slanted one way or another depending on other factors.
