Who said they didn't deserve it? The people that got banned? Of course you're going to have those who got banned say they didn't deserve it and offer up the excuse that they unknowingly did this exploit. Of course you are. Everyone that gets caught is innocent in their own mind.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe that SDS just willy nilly started banning people just for the sake of banning.

Were those reinstated actual bans?

From the initial report here posted on O.S. the statement said suspensions with POSSIBLE bans.

Does anyone know exactly what the deal was with those accounts?

I don't think anyone other than those who went through it know exactly what the deal was but according to their consoles they were permanent bans.

I don't think anyone other than those who went through it know exactly what the deal was but according to their consoles they were permanent bans.

I think another thing that's still a bit unclear to me is...are the people who are now saying they're unbanned coming off of a rightfully earned temporary ban? Or should they not have been banned to begin with? Or is it a little of both? The "I'm not banned anymore, you guys can eat crow!" posts in here don't really allow us to make any distinctions about that.

That's because Sony has horrible corporate communications on this, the banned then unbanned folks no as much as us, just the random post with no further explanation...

Exactly which is why at this point it is what it is. I'm disappointed that this was handled so poorly. I'll give them a few days but I still expect an apology, no more no less. This thread really just needs to be closed at this point and hopefully we get more clarification on their screwup after the holiday.

I think it's a little bit of both. Because there are still 1300 banned people and in their (Sony) initial release (before banning on 6/24, iirc) they said they could suspend your account OR permaban you.

All of the bans related to this purported glitch were permanent bans. Speaking for myself and others that I have communicated with, at log in a big message came up and the screen that said, "This account has been banned for cheating ..."

Ramone also stated in his Tweets on Monday that no bans were being overturned.

The general statement referring to the TOC stated exploiting, cheating, etc. could lead to bans or suspensions. That was a general statement not applying to THESE bans.

The Release on Friday clearly stated that they looked further into the data and "reinstated select accounts."

Accordingly, there were no "suspensions" here: There are only bans. However, it was clear that they made mistakes with a number of accounts (mine included) and the ban was reversed.

- You guys are looking too hard for monsters under the bed. Those that were reinstated did nothing wrong - 100%. Indeed, do you really believe that if people were intentionally stealing from SDS and were caught that they would go through this P.R. nightmare just to let them go a few days later? I know the simple answer does not satisfy your blood lust, but there is nothing more to it.

The innocent people were reinstated, the guilty ones remained banned.

The post they had said there were ~200 total bans, not 1500.

Way to go guys.... par for the course these days.

Well to be fair the PR department at SDS did a pretty bad job handling this. So the criticism is warranted.
