As I always say, "Play the game you want to play."
Howdy! I wrote this piece, and was only giving an extreme example of who that element of franchise mode might appeal to – certainly not insinuating that *everyone* who wished to play the game this way was a *******.

Sincere apologies if that's how it reads.

I really did block two punts in one day, albeit in practice mode. Doing so in a match situation is far tougher. Got agonisingly close and ended up roughing the kicker on multiple occasions, however.

That's definitely good to hear. Roughing the kicker happens far more 9ften than kick blocks.

Think my favorite line was regarding the commentators committing to adding two hours of new lines every week.

I knew they said they would add lines through the season, but its nice to hear the concrete plan.

        Sounds awesome.

So what you're saying is that the big hits that were in the game were nerfed because the NFL said they had to be?

That is what we were told during the past regime of Ian and company. This is the same reason you won't see helmets popping off anymore.

Ian & company was pre-Rex Dixon, no? Big layout hits and normal hit stick was in Madden 2015, Rex's era...

I was just saying you won't find helmet jarring hits in Madden anymore like you did previously.

The NFL looks at every tackle.

The game is still licensed by the NFL and the NFL still has final say over what is and isn't in the game.

This isn't a new thing, it's been this way for years.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

It's funny that 3 of the 8 things on the list weren't even things the NFL made them remove, but things that were removed on their own and then rejected upon re-addition. I wonder how many other things would still be in the game if it wasn't for scenarios like this:

"When the last console transition happened, with the switch from PS2 to PS3 and Xbox to Xbox 360, we completely rewrote the game. In the process, we literally lost the technology that allowed the helmet to pop off," says a producer.
"If you ran out of bounds and hit the coach, he would fall over. Same for the guys holding the first-down sticks. Eventually we changed it so they would step out of the way—but that wasn't a mandate from the league."

Exactly it's the reason why we don't see things like the ambulance coming on the field, suspensions. And probably why we see so much pink during Breast Cancer awareness month.
