Starting a 2017 fictional season question...

So, let's preface with that I am a very annoyed Chicago White Sox fan I decided it would be fun to make up a fictional start to 2017 (obviously the game still starts in 2016 but whatever) because I was sick of this current team as constructed and wanted a new franchise idea. What I did was take the latest OSFM rosters and do a little tweaking (made a couple guys like Anderson/Fulmer/Eaton better.. So shoot me) and then we made up some fantasy trades and possibly sign a free agent to be this offseason.

I acquired Andrew McCutchen for Carson Fulmer, Spencer Adams and Trey M., signed Daniel Hudson, and signed Matt Wieters. Probably a dream, but hey video games are our fantasy. I released Austin Jackson, Morneau, Navarro. All the one year guys. I then went to other rosters and released the best free agents of this year's class. Bautista, chapman, E5, etc only went about 15 deep.

Started my new franchise with this roster, simmed through spring training and have played two games. I wanted the CPU to sign those top free agents at random and just play with wherever they put them. However, after spring training and two games, none of them have been signed.

Does anyone know why this would be? They are letting a few 90+ guys just sit on FA. Does it take a little longer into the season? Should I just start this over and make up teams they end up with myself? I kinda liked seeing where they would randomly end up. Just wondering if anyone had a clue why the CPU AI is leaving superstars sitting there..

    Thanks.

You don't want to Sim 2016 and then let the free agents sign with other teams naturally?

I guess that works too and I could just 'force trades' so I could make my moves I wanted after the year. I guess there were better ways to go about this since then it actually would be 2017 lol
Just curious more then anything why the CPU would let these great free agents sit
