Watch any game, he played OLB on obvious passing downs. He was moved to ILB to help the run D. We were ranked 30th in run D when he got moved to ILB week 8 of the14-15 season, we finished top 10 in run D that year. I know you're a Bears fan, but please don't act like it.

You seem to think that just because a player occasionally played at their old position throughout the year and two years ago was one of the best at that position that they deserve to be a Top 5 player now at that position after not playing that position full time for the entire previous season and a half. You're the one being a homer here. These ratings are not (supposed to) represent their legacy ability but what they are now. What he did before he got moved to inside linebacker doesn't really apply anymore. He's still going to be rated favorably, but the guy absolutely does not belong in the top 5.

By the way, the Packers run defense in 2014 was 24th, not top 10.

I'm pretty sure Khalil Mack moved to defensive end last season under Del Rio.

Think they have a hybrid defense where they'll swap between 3-4 and 4-3. It makes Aldon Smith and Khalil Mack spots awkward in that defense.

Im not saying he sucks against the run. Im saying Khalil is better. Khalil was one tackle ahead and 2 sacks behind JJ watt last year with 77 and 15 sacks. Von had 35 with 11 sacks. For a dude that's 5 points better overall. I don't see how that is the case. He is on a much better defense so if anything his numbers should be better.

I agree. Let's also not forget Von Miller had Demarcus Ware on the other side which meant he faced less double team blocks too.

Lavonte David not even in the 90s? Where's Thomas Davis? And what's Deandre Levy rated? Maybe next year we can finall separate 3-4 and 4-3 OLBs.

I agree. Let's also not forget Von Miller had Demarcus Ware on the other side which meant he faced less double team blocks too.

He also had to share sacks with ware wolfe jackson and the like. Also do to the broncos defense teams passed quicker to beat the rush. Oakland struggled in the pass defense allowing qbs to hold the ball longer.

Than you have to factor miller had to cover at times and I believed he also ended with 80 or so less snaps played. So he had more chances to make plays.

Yeah. One hundred percent. Also Ware missed 5 whole games and had a lot of injuries in the regular season (he was sidelined bits and pieces of other games). Von frees up Ware/Ray/Barrett, not the other way around.

The mixture of 3-4 OLB and 4-3 OLB so I'm sure not only is Luke ahead but also a couple more 3-4 OLB as well. Until Madden finally adds WLB and SLB to truly seperate a 3-4 OLB vs a 4-3 SLB/WLB this will be the case.

I dunno, I think both Khalil Mack and Von Miller are pretty neck and neck but I give the slight edge to Mack. I don't have a problem with Miller being rated 99 but Mack is rated way too low.

McPhee plays OLB, DE, and DT. At least he did for us in Baltimore. He deserves to be on this list without a doubt. He's much stronger than the rest of these guys but still has great pass rushing moves.

I was so sorry to see him leave. McPhee was the epitome of versatility on defense. He got pressure from everywhere on the field.

He may end up being one of the few Baltimore defenders to continue his success after leaving the team. Definitely deserving of a top ranking.

This isn't a madden problem though 4-3 OLBs are overlooked as a whole even in real life bc 3-4 OLBs are the sack guys. It doesn't make any sense to me.
