Re: NBA 2K17 Trailer - "The Dream Lives On"

This is how I look at it: The below is a screenshot of the game I had the most fun on (that or MVP 2005).

Obviously expectation should be for improvement, but my point is if I can have fun on a game that looks like that I can ignore bulky jerseys or incorrect accessories.

Talking about velvet jerseys is one thing, but criticizing shoulder muscle definition is something I thought I'd never see.

PS: Dream Team looks pretty good. Jordan looks off but loving how Pippen and Ewing look. Can't wait to try them out, even if it's just in Play Now.
      They are top notch

However that doesn't mean the player models weren't overly buffed out.

In other words they look bigger than normal actual basketball players who aren't as big as they look in the game.

You know good and well Chris Paul is not this huge

If you have no interest in the particulars of why something needs to be fixed, then it makes no sense to be in the discussion. (in general, not you in particular)

There are things people are pointing out to make the game better, not to bash on 2K.

I don't come here all year starting threads about nothing every week. My 2 issues was Audio and atmosphere which was explained by someone earlier, and art assets.

Its hard to watch a basketball game then come on 2k and hear the same sounds that was in NBA2k and NBA2k1... the crowd not cheering until the last 5 minutes of the game, and the audio being completely butchered.

There are many departments that make this game, its not just "the devs"... that entails a lot.

Some of us point out things depending on if we think they may have time to work on it if they arent already. They may know because they're smart people, very smart.

This trailer was all visual so of course people are going to talk about that.
Oh yeah completely agree and sorry if it came across that I was criticizing your criticism. You have valid points and they are all absolutely correct. And obviously this trailer was essentially about three things: The USA team, the Dream team, and the visuals so we're limited to the discussion that can be had.

Just obviously not a big deal to me but there are probably tons of things that are important to me in the game that may not be to you.

          That;s really weak man.

Nobody said we don't have fun. That doesnt mean 2k is perfect.

It's not about being a pacifist homer who says "im cool wit it" because its better then 1995

They're touting realism, authentic NBA, sim etc...

When I show you examples you still just skip over it. It's obvious you aren't really about this conversation and that's cool.

I'm hoping they take notice because I know they know exactly what im saying.

They have employees there who modded the games to look better body and face wise, so they definitely know.

Obviously would be nice to have it corrected and I can see how it would irk some people.
didn't mean for it to be an arguement, just a conversation between two fans.

@23 man do I remember those old 2k shoulders. Players were packing bowling balls on the sides of their heads.

I thought last year player models were an improvement over past years but it was noticeable when players were done right and when they werent. I felt like someone like Kyrie Irving had a solid body scan. Still I think they had an issue with size and proportions in general. A lot of players had heads that looked to small for their body. I wondered if there was some kind of problem translating body scans to in game models (resulting in body parts being distorted) or if it was a matter of some players being scanned and others not.

Argument was probably the wrong word to use.

Yeah man, which brings forth the point

I remember guys on here used to be like, "we dont need legends, what for"

Da Czar used to tell them, "todays stars are tomorrows legends"

Now Kobe, Timmy, VC soon, Iverson, McGrady, Ray Allen, PP and KG soon, etc.. are all gone or leaving

                      NOW it makes sense lol.

...and why we need these guys to be right.

most player models clearly look improved from 16, incl. Bird and MJ IMO, there is no denying.

the complexion and skin tones of specific players is what needed major tweaking and we're not going to be able to make a final judgment until we see the likes of Olajuwon, Chamberlain and Bill Russell, if they no longer look like they have 3rd degree burns it'd be a great step forward for 2K.

it also wouldn't hurt to no longer have melting Shaq for every iteration of himself including Orlando and Los Angeles while in his prime, maybe they'll even correct droopy Sophomore T-Mac.

Sorry to take this thread further off topic but is that 2k3? Because that game solidified my love for the 2k series. And ironically the Mavericks was my team in that game. Nowintszki, nash, and Finley! That trio was my crew back then. I still look back on that game with fond memories.

Now I feel guilty for derailing the thread a bit.

On the topic of player models and graphics what do people think so far. Durant definitely looks improved but does anyone notice any other changes with other players? Players skin looks a bit more fleshy to me because they don't seem to have that shine quite like last year (at least in those two Durant comparison pics). How about lighting? Last year was a vast improvement from 2k15, anyone notice changes/improvements here?

I always felt 14 had the most realistic looking graphics. 16 looks a lil cartoonish. I hope 17 looks better.
The lighting in 2K14 was the best in the series ever, but the player models weren't better than 2K16.

It has been a slow process, yet I think eventually a lot of these issues will be addressed.
