Re: NBA 2K17 Screenshot - Dennis Schröder
I definitely buy the game, and enjoy it for the most part.
But to me, realism just adds to the experience. And players looking like themselves is a huge part of that.
I have said that the lighting looks much better this year, just going off of what we've seen so far.
But these player models being off is inexcusable IMO. It really is.
They CAN make players arms/legs the same thickness as their real life counterparts. Nobody will convince me of otherwise. Yet they don't. Why?
Stuff like the arm sleeve. You can't tell me they can't make it longer, like they are in real life.
Jimmy Butler's body looks NOTHING like him. Again, why? NBA friggin' Live did a much better job at this. That says a lot.
I do WISH they could find the "happy medium" though.
Saying that, I think KD is a bit too thin in the arms, Butler definitely too bulky. Dennis a little thin etc. etc. but I can't help but wonder, if there are 500 players in the game, maybe a good % of them are closer than these guys.
Perfection is not very reasonable to demand. But I sometimes think about how things that were once good, got worse (off topic - MJ's face). To me, this applies to some of the body issues.Comment

I'll re-post what I posted in another thread, since this thread is about this specific pic.
There's just so much wrong.
They have his face too fat.
They have his arms too skinny.
They have ZERO muscle definition.
They have his arms disproportionate. His arms above his elbow look way too long. What's going on there?
The sleeve doesn't go high enough on his bicep.
The sleeve should reach his wrist, but nope!
This is just sad and quite frankly unacceptable. With all the work 2K puts into these games, it's sad that they don't hold the art dept. accountable for this garbage. Where's some of these guys' pride?Comment

Looks ok, other than those arms. He would not be able to wear those sleeves, they would be too loose. He looks like he's 140 lbs. (looking at the arms, though his body model may not be proportional to the arms). My Specs:
ZX Spectrum
CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
GPU: Monochrome display
RAM: 48 KB
OS: Sinclair BASICComment

Giannis arms are ripped, but has those skinny legs. I bet there's a 1% chance they get this right. Along with his hair and skin tone, which were off last year.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Screenshot - Dennis Schröder
Mannnn, what the hell is going on w/ 2K art department? I've never been the one to be anal about graphics and even avoided some of the super critical threads because it's starts making you notice those super small things that might end up irking you down the road. But these screenshots of these players models has been terrible body wise.
Then you have Ronnie and Czar laughing like we have the issue and it blows my mind that they can look at these models and say "Nailed it". It's ridiculous. Yes, Czar the screens at first players were too big and yes now they are skinny.
Man, I just don't understand it? This dude has no type of muscle definition or anything. Not a game breaker but I hope they can fix this stuff before 2K17 releases.

Re: NBA 2K17 Screenshot - Dennis Schröder
The devs work hard, I mean incredibly hard. And I would NEVER dispute that and 100% appreciate it.
When it comes to looking at what's in front of us, we have an obligation to give feedback in the name of improvement.
I for one am willing to call an apple an apple. Kevin Durant to me was fine (arm thickness). Just had square shoulders which was NOT natural.
Now to attempt to improve it, it appears the issue was misdiagnosed and they've made him skinnier. Not where the problem was.
As a result, we have the above.
Can we live with it? Sure. But can we have an opinion on it? Absolutely! And the day the 2K community stops voicing their opinion is the day the game STOPS IMPROVING. I have bought every game since 2K6 and when its no longer about the community voicing their issues in the name of improvement is the day I stop purchasing.Comment
