Game Informer posted an article about upcoming games they're excited for, and there was a small section pertaining to NBA 2k17. The article has since been edited it appears, so I can't post a link since the info is no longer showing. So you can choose whether or not to believe what I saw. But it essentially stated that this year, 2k moved away from the Spike Lee storyline and instead mycareer will focus on becoming the next great NBA duo. Yes...duo.

That's all it said. So we can speculate on whether story will focus on you being paired with highest rated/star on your team. Or perhaps they create an entirely new character for you to interact with and potentially build your careers together. Could create interesting possibilities if done right. Maybe some Durant/Westbrook like storylines should one of you leave? Again, this is just me speculating. I imagine this will be revealed in more detail when they're ready to discuss MyCareer. I really will I had screen captures it before it was removed. Any way take the info with a grain of salt and feel free to discuss

Yea surely in the next week or so. Looks like Game Informer wasn't supposed to let that slip yet. I copied and pasted the article and then re-read it in my post and POOF, the info was already gone haha

I have no idea why 2K has not tried to implement this or thought about it......


But MyCareer would be unreal if you actually got a chance to work your way into the national team and play in world tournaments against other countries. FIFA had this in 2012 i think? it was such a spark to that mode then. I think that added layer would be dope as hell.

I'm hoping that's part of this year's game. Last year the covers had pictures of the athletes in their high school days which turned out to be indicative of us having that experience in mycareer. I'm hoping since Paul George is in his USA Olympic uniform in the background, that maybe this will be integrated in this year's edition. But it may just be there cause they're in the game (Team USA)

So if this is true I guess they are doing the Kobe/Shaq route. And I'm guessing it's going to be some sort of story line involved and some forced script gameplay wise? I just hope they kept high school and college in plus added an actual free agency period with realistic contracts and negotiations.

I really don't mind that 2K has a storyline in its MyCareer mode.

Except for one thing.

Why can't there be TWO MyCareer modes, where one has the storyline, and the other lets the player fill in the gaps himself--a truly freeform experience like MLB The Show's Road to the Show mode?

Wouldn't that satisfy EVERYONE'S desires?

Both the story fans and those that hate the railroading get their wish.

When it comes to my career i for one made a thread about things if they add i'll be satisfied with the mode. Not big things. Generally things that were actually in previous 2ks but for some reason they took away. Some examples.

1. Contracts - very few options in 2k16 - especially years wise.
2. Trading for players for your team - having some influence as to what players the team should get in FA. Having influence in team decisions in general.
3. Skipping the playoffs - sometimes you just want to skip them and that option shouldn't be out of the equation. I for one just care about playing with different teams. Sometimes i get bored of a team and just want to move on.


I have more in the thread - but those are one of the few key ones.
