Re: The Three Best and Worst Things About Madden NFL 17

There are some issues with the game but I'm having fun and that's all that really matters to me. I have played Madden since '12 so this is a very good game so far. My biggest complaint has nothing do with gameplay but the size of the players feet. They all have size 15 feet, it looks like the old 2K and I can't stop looking at them, lol. I'm sure as time goes on I'll start to notice other things.

I heard Madden 17 for Xbox 360 is about same game as Madden 16. Am I right? Developers are focusing on PS4 and Xbox One games because eventually Xbox 360 and PS3 will be phased out where games aren't going to be made

Defense is really hard...Winston was 8/8 in the first Quarter with perfect bullet passes and bombs that his receivers caught with one hand.

Maybe my defenders were just bad...or I'm re learning how to play defense...

Having fun tho. Pre season, so it means nothing 😉

I haven't figured out the kick meter yet. I'll have to find a tutorial on it. The part I haven't figured out is how to change direction. Otherwise, I don't mind it.

          My best things:
          Full player editing.
          Practice squads
          FORMATION SUBS.

          My worst things would be:
No sim vs arcade settings for gameplay. If we had that, we wouldn't have to worry so much about patches making things less realistic from complaints.
No options to make CFM franchise mode realistic.

By 'change direction,' do u mean 'aiming the kick'? Because, to do that, u hold the left stick left or right. And, it's sensitive, so not all the way left or right. And, the kick arc disappears after a few secs to make it more difficult. U have to hold the direction WHILE performing the 3 click button kick process. That, also makes things a little more difficult. And, kind of like in real life, sometimes when setting up a final FG attempt, the team purposely runs to the middle of the hash marks to make it easy on the kicker. So, now in madden, lining up a straight away kick is easier than having to kick from a hash and aim it. Wind obviously plays a factor in these things as well.

One thing I just cannot stand and don't understand is something that has to do with the in game presentation... It seems literally 90% of the time after a play the camera does a close up of either teams coach. I understand they wanna emphasize the new coaches biut do you have to zoom in on them after every single play? I'm legit surprised that I haven't seen anyone mention this. I like to try to let games play out like I was watching a game on TV so I don't button mash to get to the line of scrimmage as fast as possible, and it irks the hell out of me that their idea if new presentation seems to have been to have the coaches on the screen between every damn play.

This doesn't bother anyone else? I really hope they can fix it and have variety on camera shots after plays

No short yardage run blocking, pass blocking still sucks, and you still cant tackle ball carriers low. Nobody goes upper body on hits anymore in the pros. They mostly go for the legs, especially the smaller safeties and corners. And the short yardage run blocking sucks, they block on the goal line the same as they block a running play fist and ten from the 30. In real life everyone attempts to out low each other on the goal line and short yardage. These things need to be incorporated into the game by next season.

I'm really surprised you didn't mention the overall player movement. The movement of the players and their interactions has been horrendous in Madden for a LONG time. The warping and clicking into place of the players, along with the silly falls and folding limbs really make it look comical and it's also frustrating. It's also about time they un-tether the ball from the players on the field. It's 2016 and that makes the game play like a Gen 1 game. Line play and player movement are definitely number one.

As far as positives, the commentary is absolutely awesome! Probably the best I've heard in a game. Very well done.

After playing a few games, I have seen some good and bad. Kicking meter is challenging, but I like it. Ball physics are nice addition, but is overdone at times. Would love to see new running animations, but satisfied with overall run game. Commentary is best ever in a Madden series. Game has some issues, and hopefully patch will address them.

Yeah, I did figure out that left stick aiming already. But still, thanks for the post/response.

really? that sucks why they do that? - and I haven't picked it up yet you cant create a stadium as you did in the past anymore?

For kicking, aim first. Once you got it in a spot, hold it there. If you do this, you have plenty of time to aim it before it disappears. Once you hit the power of the kick, you can let go of the stick & just focus on the accuracy at the bottom.

So far I'm liking the game but, like you said earlier there really needs to show some differences between great QB's, good QB's, and bad QB's. It's sad to say but the only football game that has ever shown a differential way of throwing is the very first Tecmo Bowl. There needs to be a rating for quick release, velocity in there throws. I know that they have a throwing rating already but there is no difference when any of the QB's throw the ball. This will change the way the passing game is played big time......
