Should 2k tune contact layup percentages for 2k17?

Do contact layups go in too much or not enough in 16? Should the contact layup percentages be tuned up or down?

    "Small" sample size example video.

I think the percentages were about right. Obviously some of the animations could use tweaking but it was in a pretty decent place in 2k16 overall.

For MyPlayers guards can finish on anyone, but forwards and centers can't finish on anyone 60% of the time. Guards can dunk on the whole team, a center tries to dunk on a guard and he's stripped or trips over the guard.

They need to improve what's considered in traffic and what's not.

I felt like taller players made more contact layups then smaller guys who finish better irl. Korver finished contact layups better then Schroeder on 16. Shouuldnt the layup rating trump height on contact layups?

I think the rate at which contact layups go in is fine, but the rate at which fouls are called on contact layups are way too high.

In MyLeague I have tweaked my sliders so that the contact layup fouls are probably about half of what they are in the regular game, and the flow is just so much better. Players miss tough layups because of physicality all the time in real life but in 2K you don't really get that. Its either an auto-score or an auto-foul.

They need to make layups for smaller guards more explosive in how they go to the rim, right now it's almost a guaranteed blocked shot if you go to the rim with Chris Paul, I. Thomas or Lowry.

I think they should leave them where they were. There are just too many variables changing this year to really mess with the contact success rates just yet. Just have the ability to tune things because I am sure they will need tuning

                • You have a new layup timed release so that in itself may lower %'s I think.
                • You have new layup controls where you can decide I guess how to finish with the layups with contact or around contact that may raise or lower your your success that is user controlled. So maybe there is a way to layup with light contact this is more skill driven so again I would leave this as is.
                • Then we should have more realistic help defense which should make getting uncontested layups period harder let alone contact layups.

Unless VC is going to really use video evidence to see the success rates of contacts layups then I can't see them changing much. There is no data that I know is free that tracks contact layups. So to do it right you are going to have to take a swag or use videos and lump people together

I agree. Smaller players that finish in traffic should definitely be tweaked. These players should have more elusiveness, animations etc. it will add more realism to the game.

I relied on pull up jumpers instead of trusting the players ability to finish in traffic.

And most importantly, don't change anything until November at the earliest. Give people time to adjust to the changes. I'm just saying.

How many of you actually have data to support your claims?

Because folks love to exaggerate things happening to fit their beliefs
                        Concrete evidence/videos please

I feel the exact opposite with the contact layup fouls. i think there should be more fouls called both ways on contact layups. More shooting fouls and i think we should be able to hit the charge button during contact animation to draw offensive fouls. I agree that the game needs more physicality though.

This I'm hoping having more control over whether you want to explode around or into contact will make for guards being more formidable in the paint.
