Re: Ten buckets fam!
The bucket system is still idiotic and one of the handful of things that discourages me from even sticking with a MyCareer. It does not encourage individually it in fact restricts it.Die hard Heat and Dolphins fan since '89

Re: Ten buckets fam!
I'm really not a fan of the bucket system. Dunks and layups should not be upgraded together. I usually want to make a PG that is very good at finishing but doesn't dunk in-game. Instead of getting athletic layups when I get to the rim, I end up going for dunks.
Passing and dribbling shouldn't be lumped together either. You can be a great passer while having average handles and vice versa. And there are so many different aspects on defense that shouldn't go hand in hand either, like playing passing lanes vs shot blocking.Comment

Re: Ten buckets fam!
It looks good. The previous bucket system had too few categories. I tend to prefer this over an individual attribute upgrade system because it prevents people from really power gaming and creating really unrealistic and unintuitive characters.

Re: Ten buckets fam!
That is kinda like asking, why can't I have a guy that dominates all aspects of the game.
The answer is balance and to increase variety, I believe. You will have to decide if you want a slasher that can shoot jump shots or a jump shooter that can slash. But can't have an awesome slasher that is a lights out jump shooter.Comment

Re: Ten buckets fam!

Re: Ten buckets fam!
I'm super happy about that but I REALLY wish they gave us the opportunity to raise some of the caps by doing certain things with your career. Like making a good connection with 3 point shooters makes you want to get better at shooting so your cap raises from 6 to 7 or something like that. Nothing crazy just small raises#KingsAllDay

If you release the turbo button before you hit the shoot button you won't dunk it. You have that optionI'm really not a fan of the bucket system. Dunks and layups should not be upgraded together. Re: Ten buckets fam!
True, but I shouldn't have to do that, especially on a fast break. I just want my player to not go for dunks. In any case, that was only one example of why I don't like the attribute buckets.Comment

Re: Ten buckets fam!
But what you guys are referring to is the cap system not the bucket system. The bucket system does NOT create balance, that's the goal of a strict cap system. It looks good. The previous bucket system had too few categories. I tend to prefer this over an individual attribute upgrade system because it prevents people from really power gaming and creating really unrealistic and unintuitive characters.

There is no actual point to a bucket system, as other posters have brought up, this prevents you from being able to pass the ball well without great handles, or maybe being a good offensive rebounder but not defensive, etc. THIS DOES NOT ENCOURAGE INDIVIDUALITY.
Give me a strict cap system so I cant be a 7'0" Lebron, ok cool. But allow me to assign my limited attribute points where I want. What is everyone not understanding about this?Die hard Heat and Dolphins fan since '89
