Your offense is playing well so this matchup against a struggling UVA defense should be interesting. Also, Leon Sandcastle FTW

Virginia has recruited very poorly for an ACC team. It's kinda shocking really, considering they won the ACC less than 5 years ago. IDK, I guess their last coach left the cupboard pretty bare.

Malik Bolt, Leon Sandcastle will be in attendance for Tulane-Virginia

        September 18, 2020
        The Roll Wave Report

News coming out of the Tulane Athletic Office is that two high-profile recruits will be in attendance this week for Tulane's game against Virginia. They are #1 HB Leon Sandcastle and #7 WR Malik Bolt. Sandcastle is currently ranked as the #1 overall recruit in the ESPN 150, while Bolt is ranked #25 overall. Both players would fill positions of need for Tulane if they commit, as the Wave will lose a few seniors at those positions this spring. Sandcastle has received offers from Tulane, Auburn, North Carolina & Houston; he is reportedly heavily leaning towards Auburn. Bolt has received offers from Tulane, Auburn & Georgia; his recruitment is still undecided at the moment. Coach Kaelyn Willingham spoke highly of the two young men and explained why he wants them in the Tulane program, in a brief interview.

Coach Willingham: "I really like what these guys bring to the table athletically. But they're also smart guys, who know when to do what. I think they would benefit greatly from a Tulane education, and we would benefit from having them."

Leon Sandcastle is the nephew of NFL hall-of-famer Deion Sanders, and his football pedigree likely comes from that source. Malik Bolt is the cousin of former Olympic track star Usain Bolt, and it makes sense when you watch him on tape. Malik has only been playing football for 2 years, but in those 2 years he has shown a lot of talent. Both prospects will be given tours of the Tulane campus & athletic facilities, as well as a tour of New Orleans. They will then attend this Saturday's football game against the Virginia Cavaliers. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30PM EST.

          So where have I been?

I've spent the last few weeks away handling business. Doing that gets tiring, so I've procrastinated a bit at updating this dynasty. Good news for me is that I'm heading back to work soon. Also getting some school stuff done as well. Bad news for you all is that this means the posts will slow down for a bit. I'll update probably a few times a week, but don't expect any frequency.

I'll get the UVA post up soon, then move forward. I've already played the Southern Miss game, and Boston College is up after that. In an effort to catch up, I'll streamline my post-game stuff a little. Thanks for being patient y'all.

'Hoos drown in Sea of Green
Tulane dominates in all facets, wins by 45
NEW ORLEANS -- Let's be honest. This game was never really close. This game was so unwatchable that many seats were left empty by the start of the Fourth Quarter. You could hear the crickets chirping in the crevices of the Superdome.

Alright, it wasn't that bad. There were still plenty of butts in the seats. Only 57,000 showed up for the home opener against UConn, and that game was arguably worse. But still, this wasn't the best game to watch in person. Tulane dominated in all facets, handling the Virginia Cavaliers a 66-21 loss, and aiming themselves for yet another boost up the polls. The running game was strong, Adam Barnes had a great day passing, and the defense smothered Virginia completely. It didn't start off great though.

Adam Barnes was picked off on his first pass attempt of the game (a screen pass intended for WR Joe Fernandez). UVA defensive back Shaun Cooley returned it 32 yards to the house, giving the 'Hoos a surprise 7-0 lead early on. Barnes would redeem himself on the next drive however, leading the Wave down the field before punching it in the endzone himself, a 12-yd touchdown run that tied the game at 7. Tulane would run off three more scores in consecutive fashion. Despite them struggling to run the ball at times against the Cavs, they made more-than-enough big plays to capitalize. T.C. Pickens added 2 scores on the ground, and the Barnes-Hernandez connection made up for the early turnover with a touchdown. UVA would put a drive together late in the first half, culminating with a Carnell Mitchell TD pass to WR Tim Cole, but Adam Barnes responded again with another rushing score. 35-14 at the half, the game was getting out of hand.

Tulane blew it open even more in the 3rd Quarter, scoring 17 unanswered points. At 52-17, it was time to pack it in. Adam Barnes stayed in to pad his stats, but the reserves came off the bench to finish it off. Usually this is the point where the losing team starts kicking it in gear. Subbing in for an injured Carnell Mitchell, Andre Stover tossed a late TD pass to FB Mario Jackson, bringing it to 52-21, but the Wave kept on pouring. Cam Jackson came into the game with Adam Barnes finally done, and threw his 1st touchdown of the season to Joe Fernandez (Fernandez's 2nd score of the day). RB Michael Strong closed it off with a 20-yd rushing score of his own, putting the game to bed at 66-21 (a game that was never entertaining from the start).

The Wave's next two games are on the road (@ Southern Miss, @ Boston College), then it's Homecoming against Florida State. Tulane will face the Golden Eagles for the first time since the 2015 Liberty Bowl, where they won 34-31 in thrilling fashion. Tulane could easily be 5-0 heading into Homecoming Weekend, and with FSU having a resurgent season thus far, that could be a very important game in the ACC this season. Given that both teams won this week, that could easily be a Top 10 match-up come game time.

                    M.M. Roberts Stadium, Hattiesburg, MS

GAME PREVIEW -- The Green Wave and Golden Eagles meet for the first time on the gridiron since December 31, 2015 in the Liberty Bowl, a game Tulane won 34-31 in the final seconds. Since that game both teams have achieved success. Tulane went 4-8 the year after that bowl win, but have since gone 41-1, won 2 BCS Bowl games & changed conferences. Southern Miss has enjoyed success too, posting two 10-win seasons since 2015 and becoming a mainstay atop the Conference USA standings. It should be an interesting game in Hattiesburg this week, as the Battle for the Bell is finally renewed.

Tulane's offense brings forth its usual: a strong running game, this time headlined by Heisman-candidate QB Adam Barnes. The run defense has played well so far this season, but the pass defense needs work. Southern Miss' strength is its passing attack, headlined by sophomore QB Jeremy Bell. The second-year player has been up & down to say the least this season, but he can make all the throws. His top RB Dontae Jenkins will sit this one out with a fractured forearm, meaning he will have to throw the ball more if his team wants to upset the Wave. It's a match-up of strong offenses & shaky defenses. Could be a shootout.

Working on a UAB update right now. LOL.

To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm gonna bring this back. I've thought about it. I've flirted with the idea for a while. But having owned NCAA 14 for nearly a year, I find 13 to be rather unplayable these days. There's just so much that 14 gets right that 13, well, just doesn't. 13 feels like an arcade game to me while 14 feels like you're actually playing football. But I wanted to tease you guys a bit . See how y'all would react if I actually brought this back. (The response was favorable).

Anyway, I already finished the rest of this season. Tulane had an excellent 1st year in the ACC. The conference was very competitive. We lost a BUNCH of key players to graduation & the draft. 2021 would be a new-look Tulane team. I'll probably post an update about it sometime. In the meantime, I'm gonna finish this Blazer update.
