    2-gap responsibility?

Gap play is so much better feeling in M17 than previously.

However, just curious if anyone has seen any defensive formations where a DT has 2-gap responsibility? I can't really find any that explicitly show this in the play art.

Maybe give this a try... Go into practice mode and try pinching your D-Line in. See if that forces double teams and keeps your linebackers clean, while keeping your defensive lineman in position to play either gap. Hope it works. It did in previous Madden editions. Good luck.

Every 3-4 defense I've played with so far shows 2-gap play art for the NT

What playbook? I need to figure out if it's just the BAL & HOU playbooks that don't have 2-gap responsibility (very possible as IRL, HOU tends to have a 1-gap attacking 3-4) or if I'm reading the play art wrong somehow. When you look at the NT does it literally have two lines illustrating he's responsible for both gaps..?

In Baltimore's playbook one of their Dime formations have the NT using a 2 gap technique.

But Baltimore primarily runs a fake 3-4 that utilizes one gap play, and not the pure 2 gap 3-4.

Yeah, I finally found a play in like.. 3-4 Even I think where the NT had 2-gap responsibility against certain offensive formations.

Plays themselves live in all playbooks so I don't think it had anything to do with the type of 3-4 that HOU & BAL run. It's just a lot of plays have NT in 1-gap responsibility against a lot of offensive formations.

Its usually not the plays but rather the alignment. At least it is in real life.

I would think most plays out of nickel 3-3-5 or Dime 3-2-6 have 2 gap responsibility from the NT. Maybe the 3-4 Even front.

Generally if the NT is lined up directly over the center (or nose of the football, hence nose tackle), he should have two gap responsibility. If he is shifted to line up directly over a gap then he has 1 gap responsibility.

That is how it works in real life, but I haven't had the time to check the game to see how closely it mirrors real life in this regard.

I know for sure Baltimore is a hybrid defense and I'm sure houston is too.

Yeah, it doesn't really end up that way in the game. Those formations with over-center alignment were the first thing I checked.

When you say play art, do you mean the play overview that shows the zone/man coverage of everyone, or the run gap responsibility play art that you see when holding down the right joystick left or right?

I use the Packers, and depending on the play, if I slant the d-line to the outside, the NT will have 2-gap responsibility. Here's a screenshot.

Thanks for this--this is exactly what i was looking for. I did find it in 1 or 2 plays like this, but the vast majority of plays in the Texans/Ravens PB & a few others I glanced through (including in formations where the NT is directly over-center which typically means 2-gap) had only 1-gap responsibility.

But this is good to know, I'm probably just not looking in the right PBs.

Your base 3-4Defense , Odd will have 2 Gap as the Nose Tackle is lined up over center and maybe under. Sub Packages with 2 Gap 3-3-5 ,3-2-6 and 1-4-6. I have been playing Ravens defense and have before which have 4-3 looks along with Chargers and Bills
