I actually read a comment earlier today on a different forum in which someone said that once Playstation and XBOX go completely digital (and it is coming) that that would be the end of them ever buying another game. Made me crack up!
I am guessing the same people that hate digital copies of games do buy digital copies of music now and have no problem with that. lol
No one quit buying and listening to music once iTunes came out.
It makes no sense at all!
my issues with games being digital is it hogs up my bandwith dl'n a huge 40-60gb game and the sheer time it takes me. where as with music its much smaller to dl an album or a song and of course takes up less hdd space as well.

then u also have the issue of if ur hdd isnt humongous and u have a decent size library, say u have to delete an older gm to accomodate a new one. well what happens when xbox live or psn decides to remove it off of their servers for good which does happen all the time with older content....well that license u own to the digi copy is null and void and no refund will be given. too bad u want to go back and play a game u own and its no longer there to be dl'd. this is why some ppl didnt want full digi and im one of them. some ppl clearly havent thought it all the way thru for everyones scenario.

end of the day i like to go back and replay old gms and also like to keep a collection so im all about physical copies. i cant count how many older gen gms ive gone back to play going all the way back to nes. not possible in a digi only world. hell theres x360 gms that i cant even re-dl cuz the content is gone.

Took me less than an hour to download Madden last night.
It would take me longer to drive to the nearest video game store, park, deal with the store, drive home, and then download a day 1 patch. Then it would to just download the game from the PS Store.
Also what do you do when you run out of space on whatever you have your music stored on?
I currently have 12 games downloaded and stored on my PS4 and still have plenty of room for more.

^Plus it seems the games get larger and larger.

My grandson's ps3 takes removing 2 or 3 games just to play the newest games.

This wasn't my point in all of this! lol
My only point was people have no idea there is no difference in the two versions.
The OP is about the EA Servers being down and this doesn't affect a digital copy any different than a physical copy of a game.

Admittedly though, PS3 isn't quite epuipped for a digital library, the HDD space just isn't there. The current generation of consoles have quickly adapted to one and two TB hard dives, and for most gamers, that is plenty of space. As for Microsoft and Sony removing games from their online library, making a downloaded purchase obsolete, I've never seen it.
Coming from a guy who's owned hundreds of Albums, 45's, cassettes, cartridges, and yes even an 8 Track or two, I welcome the technology of today, everything about it is better than the past.

I have seen your exact quote above many times concerning many games and it simply is just not true. I am at work or I would spend the time to post the article that has been posted many times when it comes to this.
Again have a digital or physical copy has no effect at any time when it comes to playing a game. They are one and the same.
Maybe it doesn't make sense- don't know, don't care- but when it happened one time specifically with Witcher, Xbox Live had a quote on their status site that read something to the effect of "Are you having trouble using/playing digital content? We're working on it!". And there were people chiming in on Xbox forums that yes their digital copy of Witcher wasn't working, while others who owned a physical copy claimed they weren't having any problems. Maybe they were lying, I don't know.

I am not in the camp of buying physical copies because I'm some type of conspiracy theorist who doesn't trust digital games or I'm stuck in the stone age regarding technology. I own many digital copies of games. So how about you & whoever chided people for being "ignorant" about this stop acting so condescending about what is frankly a very trivial topic.

This is an article about a period of time when this happened: http://attackofthefanboy.com/news/xb...digital-games/. There were similar articles from other reputable sites as well about this. If they are incorrect about their assertions, which is certainly possible, maybe you should apply for a job there and correct their mistakes. And if posting links like this is frowned upon, I understand if it's removed. Resume the talking down to people about the nuances of digital and physical copies of video games- adios.

Actually when PSN was down, people reported not being able to launch their digital owned games probably because those people didn't set their console to home console- I set my PS4 to home console and had no trouble launching digital titles offline. XBL works the same way, I remember back on my 360 having a digital copy of Red Dead Redemption but wasn't connected to the internet and it told me I couldn't play it because I wasn't logged in.

EA servers are a different thing though, I"ve experienced an awful lot of server problem in the NHL series, a handful of times in FIFA but almost never in Madden.

Unless playing an online cfm with freinds or something that's why I go the offline cfm route. I know it has the faster simulation times and the advantage of tuner updates being able to be added to it but the fact that things like this don't stop me from playing my cfm outweighs the few extra benifits of online.

Online cfm's/franchises in any game are even more unappealing now to me in a time where it feels like these bigger gaming company's servers and online services are constantly being targeted and knocked offline by hacker groups. For two examples, like how that group Lizard Squad targeted PlayStation and XBox1 a while back and how Poodlecorp targeted EA's servers days ago. Also when PlayStation's servers had to be shut down for hours only a few days ago because of a technical difficulty/error which I heard it was.

This is one of the reasons I never play online, the other reason is everytime I attempt to it is against someone who is either incredibly immature, quits when they are losing are doesn't play a serious game (like going for it on 4th and 35).
