Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
I was looking at making a SG playmaker as well the numbers seem real good, that off the dribble speed I want. I was thinking 6'4 that way he's got a slight rebounding edge at the park over little guys. I'm curious what's your reasoning to make him 6'3 compared to say something like 6'4?6'5" playmaker min weight/wingspan.
S close- 82
ODS M- 79
ODS 3- 79
S lay- 83
D lay- 81
S dunk- 66
D dunk- 73
C dunk- 60
O mid- 81
C mid- 81
O 3- 74
C 3- 74
Speed- 93
Aceel- 93
Vert- 93
Strength- 55
Ball control- 93
Speed WB- 94
Lat quick- 74
He doesn't get any significant benefit from being 6'5" with short wingspan. He's better off at 6'3" with default wingspan.
Max acceleration, ball control, speed with the ball with ankle breaker. You're going to get wherever you want on the floor. You're also a scoring threat, with all of your scoring attributes in the mid 80s except for 3pt (79) with boost.Comment

Realise i'm speaking for this guy, but I would assume its so that his shooting stats are higher.Comment

Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
Im ok with the caps, im ok with the badges, the only thing i hate is why would a Slasher have 76ish Speed with ball? Aren't they supposed to be explosive etc?
94 speed and then all of a sudden 76 with the ball, cmon dude

Only thing I can think of is maybe a slasher I'm the sense of cutting back door for lobs, cutting and getting passes just my thought

Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
In my opinion the difference between speed and speed when dribbling is a very good and realistic addition to the game. Just because someone runs faster, doesn't necessarily mean that he's technically adept at dribbling at the same time.Comment

Slasher or Athletic Finisher... You just kinda get the ball to lay it/dunk it in my opinion, you're not supposed to dribble that much if you see what I'm trying to say ^^Pro-Am player | PF/C for SB GANG

Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
I actually think speed with the ball for slashers should be around 80s. I ain't mad though lol easier to guard

6'3" for the extra lateral quick & shooting, it might not that big of a difference. I'm going to mostly play Pro Am so I don't really need extra size for boards.Comment

Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
Speed with ball needs adjusting, this is legit stupid.
This is without changing weight, so no loss or added stats.
A 6'7 Playmaking PG gets 92 SWB which is kinda high.
A 6'10 Point Forward SF gets 83 SWB, which IMO is really high for that height.
Lets see you would imagine a really short player being really quick with the ball.
A 5'7 Shot Creator PG gets... 77 SWB... ?... Bruh
A 5'7 Slashing PG gets 80 SWB.. Really 2K?
I legit dont know what to say, what are your thoughts?Comment

Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
Comparing people with vastly different playmaking caps is useless. That said, the 5 footers have been completely discarded this year with the caps. There really isn't any point to them now outside of roleplaying.Speed with ball needs adjusting, this is legit stupid.

Thing is if SWB is a modifier those numbers aren't telling you a lot.Speed with ball needs adjusting, this is legit stupid.

Note; Just using random numbers here.
If 6'7" guard runs without the ball @82 and the formula for speed with the ball is (SWoB+SWB)/2 he moves @87absolute with the ball.
6'10" guy is say 72 without the ball ends up @77 absolute.
Then you get to a really short guy so as far as I have seen he hard caps(as everyone does) @94 ends up @87 absolute.
I suspect this is how things like Shoot of Dribble and Speed with Ball work. Of course the methods of calculating it is certainly more complex than my example.
Point is arguing the validity of values being entered into an algorithm are pointless without know anything about the algorithm. The only way we are going to have any idea how well these things are balanced is going to be to max a bunch of them out and test it. Until then you are just getting worked up over nothing.Comment

Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
SWB, is probably a modifier of the base speed. like slashing pg would have a 75 actual speed when dribbling. basically multiplying speed time SWB as a percentage. So the pg would be 94(speed) x .80(SWB) = 75. The 6'10" Point Forward would look more like 70(speed) x .83(SWB) = 58. This is all an assumption, but it wouldn't make sense for anyone to move faster with the ball than without it. As for the 6'7" playmaker, he is a play maker that is his specialty. He moves well with the ball. I think the slasher should probably have a higher SWB though.Speed with ball needs adjusting, this is legit stupid.
