The Ultimate Madden Test: How Important is Speed?

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/J7Lq3AjL8Y8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Now this is a funny and completely fun video made by YouTube user YoBoy Pizza which features two completely polar opposite teams to see just how important speed is in the game.

On one sideline are the New York Giants -- a team full of guys rated 10 in speed, acceleration and release but 99 in every other attribute.

On the other sideline are the San Diego Chargers -- a team full of guys rated 99 in speed, acceleration, and release and 10 in every other attribute.

Seriously, this is a fun experiment. Check it out and let us know what you think!

funny video but I think everyone knew the 99 speed team would win. would be interesting to see the slow team with 50 speed instead so they could actually move.

I think the 50 speed team would easily win. At 10 speed it was like they were stuck in mud.

AWR should have been the same across the board.

Largely off topic, but it was the first thing I spotted. Versus is a preposition, not a verb. Can people please stop using it that way?
We don't stop playing because we get old, we grow old because we stop playing.

Madden heavily favors speed. On Madden 17, I created a speed HB named Jubby Flubby, he was 7'0 and 400 pounds, but he had 94 speed and 92 acceleration so he routinely posted 150-200 yard games because he would outrun everyone. Then, once I got trucking up to 80 he would literally just run a linebacker over and accelerate through the gap between the safeties for like 40 yards.

Re: The Ultimate Madden Test: How Important is Speed?

So many youtubers feel like yhey have to sound excited when they talk and they end up sounding annoying as hell.

Anyway it was funny that when the Giants went no huddle their players actually moved faster than should have been possible, and they ran much faster during cutscenes.

On a serious note, this experiment demonstrates one thing, and that is how inconsistent Madden is in its ratings scale. Those 10 speed players ran as fast as elderly people, which suggests the rating scale is absolute. However in other categories (blocking, passing, kicking) a 10 rating seems much better, as if it is a relative scale, i.e. the lowest rating is the lowest for a professional athlete, but still superior to gramps.

The speed and acceleration is an absolute. Many of the other ratings are just dice rolls and animation.

Reminds me of many years ago when I was coaching coach pitch little league. We had a boy that could hit it to the wall but it didn't matter because he was so slow he would still get thrown out at first by 7 year olds.
