OSFM or Kingsransom for new franchise?
Which roster set is better for starting a new franchise? I am looking for the most accurate player ratings as possible in the big leagues and farm systems for every team.

Fenway Macs are head and shoulders above all IMO when it comes to sliders. Angle recommendations are up to you but I do MLB 15 the Show for hitting and pitcher center for pitching. Those mix performance and arthritis. The most popular is fish eye with broadcast. The best for performance only would be strike zone for both, but there is no aesthetic value.Check out my dynasty: Rise to the Top: The Coaching Career of Joshua Morgan (NCAA 14)Comment

And by the way, I personally use the MLB on Fox rosters. It is so much better than any others in my opinion.Check out my dynasty: Rise to the Top: The Coaching Career of Joshua Morgan (NCAA 14)Comment

Re: OSFM or Kingsransom for new franchise?
No way brotha that roster is designed so that the franchise's are as engaging and believable in year 1 as they are in year 5 without sacrificing anything on either end or in between.
The attributes have to go as low as I have them in order to get a realistic progression process on certain types of players. Many players in the majors and minors that deserve it are rated higher on mine than other rosters but for some reason people are concerned when 18-19 year olds or 30+ career minor league bench players that are batting at mendoza line are under 50 overall like it's going to break their chances of getting that last wild card spot or something??
Way too many players jammed in 60s/70s in most rosters and it really takes away some of the intrigue of watching players progress most of your players are good enough to put in game at the MLB level and have sustained success. Also takes away some of the fun of watching 90+ overall players when the league average is not even far away and average players are in the 80s. Really dulls the value of superstars in the talent pool when everyone can do the same cool things for 20 million dollars less per year.Last edited by powerswingking; 09-14-2016, 02:06 AM.Comment

Re: OSFM or Kingsransom for new franchise?
If you want an opening day roster then the only choices are the OSFM Hybrid roster or MLB on Fox. I suggest the OSFM Hybrid for now since MLB on Fox is unfinished sadly (missing players, broken lineups/rotations, missing pitch edits, missing equipment).
If you want just updated transactions OSFM or Kings Ransom are the only choices I know of. I never tested the latter but I'm not certain whether it will play well with the generated rookies from the draft.Comment

OSFM Hybrid is my set of choice. And, I'm totally unbiased.........
Many of the "pop up" rosters that come out late in the season tend to over-promise and under-deliver. Some threads seem to be nothing more than attention-grabbing ploys at best/trolling at worst (not true of all rosters, some actually are rational and not completely random at least...The Game's set comes to mind as a non-OSFM set that is decent). Or they just basically take the OSFM, mess with a couple of things and re-issue it under a different name.
That's why the label "OSFM" means a lot around these parts. Accept nothing less!Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: OSFM or Kingsransom for new franchise?
I don't feel it's appropriate or my place to call anyone specific out in a negative way, but I can give you some warning signs to look for. They're pretty easy to spot when they appear.
*Tons of hype posts and little in the way of actual progress (threads that are 90% of a guy's opinion on just telling you how "awesome" his own roster is).
*A user who hasn't been on OS very long claiming to know all the ins and outs of roster making (recent join date usually means previously-banned user in my mind). Most noobs to OS are also noobs to in-depth roster stuff.
*Missed deadline after missed deadline.
*Multiple promises to post by a certain time and it's never met and an excuse is always made.
*Something that looks too good to be true (it has all the bells and whistles and everything is perfect!).
*A creator that plugs his roster by calling other rosters out specifically.
*A creator who promises great accuracy and attention to detail, but can't even master spelling simple words in his posts or is unable to communicate at an adult level.
*A creator who has a track record of not coming through with a product in prior years. Or a track record of taking other people's work and passing it off as original.
If you see some of these symptoms, odds are it's some sort of troll or someone in over his head and you shouldn't waste your time or get your hopes up. There was a guy on OS earlier in the spring/summer who made an entire thread complete with Twitch streaming only to troll other roster makers as a sort of demented, immature parody. There was never any roster and there were never any plans to make one. The guy got banned here after people on his Twitch stream called out how randomly he was editing and found out he was trolling. It was sad seeing how much time he sank into that little stunt.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 09-15-2016, 08:05 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: OSFM or Kingsransom for new franchise?
The King's Ransom potential ratings are adjusted to produce real life success rates for players at different talent levels and realistically develop the invididual characteristics of these tools each player has, whether they be + tools or something you need to to develop.
Just meant to narrow off the star status that many prospects obtain with the OSFM potentials etc if you run a franchise for a while. This makes things much more real imo. To each his own, I still think my roster would be great for people who just even have a problem with the potentials, shouldn't take you too long to adjust that and im sure you wont diisagree with EVERYONE!Comment

Re: OSFM or Kingsransom for new franchise?
Is there an updated hybrid roster because I'm not seeing one after the deadline and the recent OSFM roster I downloaded had players missing. Since I want to start a Yankees franchise they are missing key prospects like Jorge Mateo and all the good prospects they picked up in their deadline deals.Comment
