Creating player for future franchise drafts

Has anyone created rookie players who would be available for future drafts in franchise mode?
Is there any new tricks to this?
Usually the settings that affect this are birth year, setting Pro Team to NONE etc etc

Shouldn't have changed. I'm gonna be adding 2017 and 2018 prospects to my Franchise.

I've done many.

Just create a player, and make sure the birth year is correct for the draft and the team and draft year isn't selected; I think you can go 4 drafts deep.

Leave them on the free agent list, and then move them over to a CHL team. I think if you do the third year or fourth year draft they have to be moved to the OHL.

I've found that the game doesn't develop the underage junior players, so create a future prospect with the same ratings you want him to enter the draft, and he'll still have those rankings when you get to his draft.

I'm trying to get fourth year guys for the 2020 draft; but hit a snag.

The game won't let you move them into the OHL as 14 year olds. So, you have to make them with the year of birth as 2000, assign them to the team, and then go back to the created player screen and edit the birth year to 2001.
