Best cards at the moment (current meta / tiers)

    Dear 2K brotherhood,

as the game proceeds through different stages, we will be facing a lot of patches with new packs and new players with increasing stats and card tiers.
I would like to open this thread in order of discussing the best cards at this point - which are also realistic to gather.

Looking at the current meta, most of the players are running emerald squads paired with few sapphires. Nevertheless I've been playing full sapphire teams, which are capable to gather throughout collector rewards.

Common Sapphires are obviously Steph and LBJ - which definitely belong to the top cards at the current state - but there are more cards to be mentioned.

    1) Deron Williams (collector reward for locking the Nets)

84 OVR: Great all-around shooter with decent defense

    2) Grant Hill (collector reward for locking the Magic)

86 OVR: Probably the best reward - height / athleticism / drive / mid range

    3) Richardson (card count)

    84 OVR: lights out 3PT 90+

    4) Sprewell (card count)

85 OVR: lights out shooter with great dunking/driving package

    5) Shane Battier (collector reward locking for locking Grizzlies)

86 OVR: in my opinion the perfect stretch 4 - 3PT + Defense + decent athleticism

    The way I see it,
Horry is better stretch PF than Battier.

He is better shooter, rebounder (massively), and defender.

The only thing he lacks in comparison is athleticism which IMO is not very important for stretch PF

can't agree on this one mate

Horry is slighty better from 3PT, way better in rebounding and has height advantage - but that won't make up for Battiers defense and athleticsm imo.

Edit: shane also comes with corner specialst + catch & shoot badge

In addition for me DeAndre is a BEAST. Dominates the boards, he is really fast in the roll, and is unstoppable when he gets the ball in the paint.

He is by far my first scorer.

I prefered him over Drummond due to Dunking abilities/ Block and Speed.

In my 4-out 1 offense heavy PnR offense I want a player that can dominate the paint

Of course his FT is a big con, but I hope that until I upgrade him to a better card eventually, I will learn to shot a bit better with him

No problem, we have different oppinions.

Post D is +8 for Horry, which is crucial for a PF.
In addition I just can't use a PF with 56 Rebound. But always different oppinions are welcome

if you use chris paul with him his FT goes up to a 70

              70??? Jesus... Really?
Well I don't like CP3 a lot, but that boost is HUGE

yea and anyway it's hard to generalize...some match-up will support a horry pick over battier - the next maybe not

                  Also Kawhi is amazing

I have 83% 3s with him ( I take only corner wide open though)

Amazing defender of course and strong

He is a LBJ minus his playmaking but + his shooting

I use LBJ as my primary playmaker (even from his SF position to run picks, and have 3 shooters out wide, that is why LBJ passing stats are so important to me.

If someone doesn't use LBJ as a playmaker, I would go with Kawhi all the way

Granted this is only my second experience with this kind of mode after The Show 16's Diamond Dynasty, and I generally prefer the random acquisition of players to researching and learning the market (plus 2K's system seems more obtuse than Diamond Dynasty) but I'm really digging Jahlil Okafor and the Bulls flashback Jay Williams cards so far. Okafor is a workhorse in the paint on offense and the Williams card was the first time I noticed a distinct difference between your average opening pack players and a guy with some real, distinguishable talent.
