MyLeague Free Agent Contracts

I'm not sure if anyone was aware since I have not previously seen a thread on it. I was messing around with MyLeague and was trying to see what affects a player's will to take a low contract.

Turns out it's heavily dependent on the attribute: Potential

J.R. Smith hit the free agents' market and wanted about $7.2M (when he just publicly announced he wanted $15M in real life to reprise his championship role.)

So, I tried the following:

1) Raise Financial Security: His contract when from $7.2M to $7.38M
2) Modified this by upping his Peak End Attribute from 32 to 35: $7.3M (no change)
3) Lowered Peak End back to 32 from 35 and Raised Potential from 77 to 89: $7.38M to $15.16M

We know the Peak End attribute lowers all stats over time including potential. So as potential drops so does the player's value. This is why we get these remarkably crazy contracts in MyLeague.

I will probably follow the roster editors over OS to edit my own rosters. To see how they change things and get an idea of where players should land.

I think what should happen is the players Potential attribute should stay fixed (at least in the background) as the player ages. The other stats could still be reduced as they already are (however, that is currently affected by sliders). This would allow older players to retain an air of potential where they can give you a big night.

So, yeah, I'm not sure if anyone knew, but, messing with the Potential attribute will help you guys get the players to go after contracts the way they should.

Update: Not all contracts are affected effected equally as I hastily believed. I tried it with Nene and he wouldn't get higher that $2.8M with the following edits:

Original Salary ask: MINIMUM

1) Potential: 93
2) Peak End Age: 36
3) Financial Security: 98

Final Salary after edits: $2.38M

So, my b, you can make substantial changes with some players but not with others. I don't know why.

Third Test: Andrew Bogut

Original Contract Ask: MINIMUM (Previous year $11M contract)

Edits:
Potential 87
Peak End 32

Final Salary after edits: $12.46M

Another substantial change. Maybe Nene just doesn't like money. Also, I had no idea his name was Nene. I always thought it was weird that they never used his first name. Or rather than I never saw it.
