Someone said that the reset only occured for specific player when they get injured or get released. This would make a lot of sense. It should easy be tested. Maybe some of the devs/GC's can look at this and can explain the logic behind?!

Re: The Return of Formation Subs in Madden NFL 17

I play as the chiefs but like to use a 4-3 defense. I am unable to do this because no matter what defensive playbook I select, when I go to do the formation subs it always shows the Andy Reid playbook, not the one I selected.
When I go to the schemes section it still shows the playbook I selected.
I began my franchise before the day one patch downloaded and installed so I was wondering if that may be an issue or if this is a known issue.

Anyone having problems with nickel or dime cornerbacks?

On the formation subs screen, Orlando Scandrick is the nickel CB but in game he'll always be on the outside.

In your coaches scheme screen assign the generic 4-3 playbook. You will then be able to do formation subs with the generic defensive 4-3 playbok.

All of these stupid issues would not be issues if they had done custom sub packages...

Why is it that when I put my No.1 CB at Nickel cornerback hes still on the outside. Anyone else having this problem? I can swap DEs but not CBs

Thanks Armor, I'll give it a try tonight.

Yes. They just get rid of the generic packages and let us create our own.

Sucks that they limit who can be subbed.

Thanks for the reply Armor. Unfortunately that has not worked for me. I made that change in the main menu, as well as in the team settings and coaching schemes section of franchise. When I play a game I have the chosen playbooks but am unable to do formation subs for the chosen offensive and defensive playbooks. I play offline and am under the impression that is the issue.

My formation subs on D won't save for all of them?

It seems that the problem with Formation Subs is that they didn't make it bulletproof enough. Too many scenarios can make it go haywire.
Let's face it: Those of us who will really USE Formation Subs will take the time to make sure we don't have starters on special teams, INCLUDING on kickoff and kick return, and as time-consuming as it is, these things should stick and never reset.
In order to prevent injury, release, etc of a single player from screwing up everything, they should allow us to set up a depth chart for every position in every set. Basically say, "Formation Subs is gonna work all the time, but the user has to really want to use the feature to go this in depth."
Also, a depth chart within formations would allow for fatigue/autosubs to still work properly, as well as 3rd down back, packages, etc, but they need to throw in Custom Packages as well to get this feature to really be worth messing with IMO.
Plus, off topic, but get the audibles to "stick" in custom playbooks! Another time consuming endeavor that gets bugged out and rendered useless.

the #1 priority for me with formation subs was special teams. everytime someone is injured the subs reset. no matter what you do block kick left/right dont stick. and you cannot affect kickoff or return personnel. if i go in and manually change te2 fb1 wr5 mlb2 etc i run the risk of the game freezing and losing all credit for interceptions etc

im at the point that is it actually giving us anything in its current state. formation subs worked with custom playbooks in ncaa 14, subs worked in madden 08 pc, hco6 on pc and hco9 on ps3 (cant use xbox version in uk), prior version of madden had this in, it worked clunkily but better than we have now.

im also getting to the point of seriously wanting custom play design (within limits); ie dial in personnel say 3-3-5 Nickel, coverage Cover 3, man or zone or blitz underneath. However i would like the option of safety first. ie the guys i want to zcv doing deep zones. in the old 3-3-5 Cover 3 Man under, cbs 1 +2 and fs were deep. i want fs ss and nickel (who may be a S or cb) to do deep and my 2 best mcv in mcv. or i want 3-4 odd cover 2 hard flat where the lolb is in man not mlb2 and they reverse assignements because of the opposition personnel formation

Is it true that formation subs actually save in Online CFM and not Offline? I don't see the point of formation subs if only your base defense is going to save and not the sub packages, you know the things this concept would be perfect for

Hope they fix this soon. I like to run the nickel and dime packages teams use in real life and get my starters off special teams.
