    Scouted Youth Athleticism? (FIFA 17)

So, I noticed that while scouting for the first couple of seasons that the pace for my youth players seems very low. Sprint Speed, Acceleration, Stamina, they're all always really low. The Stamina I can understand to some degree because it can trained... but EVERY player I scout is 56-64 sprint speed, 60-70 acceleration on the PS4...

Has anyone else had any better luck?

This is for every position... irony? The only mid-70's (75) sprint speed I have had was on a CB. And even he had a 64 accel, 57 agility.

scout wingers for more speedy guys, my understanding also is that pace develops as the players grow

This is correct in that pace/accel do actually grow this year. I think I might've even saw that some folks think it to be too much. I'd rather it be that way than hardly at all TBH.

Yeah for youth players I wouldn't worry about it. As JHedges2 said they will grow rapidly. Someone posted a bunch of videos in the impression topic about this. Multiple tests over multiple saves, and players were growing at an insane rate without training.

Maybe it's just my save then... I have 3 players who I've had in my youth squad for almost 2 seasons and they've yet to grow at all pace wise.

I wish that every once in a while you could just get someone who is fast. I mean, guys like Theo Walcott, CR7, etc... were all pretty damn fast at 16.

After digging around and researching... it seems physical growth is stunted if you train a player. That would explain why the players I have aren't growing physically. -_-

So by this logic, we should only train players we DON'T want to grow physically?

Which I guess means we shouldn't train ANY youth players?

Re: Scouted Youth Athleticism? (FIFA 17)

I'm noticing a lot more variance in physical growth compared to in '16 where it was literally all (ended 90+ easily) or nothing.

Here is what I'm seeing with a team full of PTBS players through 4 seasons:
                    - Physically strong - the bread and butter players of '16 - are no longer the super freaks. They grow steadily but aren't blazing fast. Most of my 19/20 YO PTBS PS players are 79-81 PACE. This is regardless of if they started at 65 or 75...they still seem to be at ~80 and climbing a few points a season. My outlier is a 87 PACE 6'5" CB monster.

                    - Attacker - Interchangeable with physically strong regarding PACE, weaker across the rest of the physical stats.

                    - Winger - Yeah...this is where its at. My 20 YO 84 OVR LM with 97 PACE is amazing. I don't have a large sample size but if you want 90+ PACE start here.

                    - DM - Don't bother. Highlight here is 4 seasons in and from 62>66 PACE. Ugh.

                    - TG - Small sample size but the 2 I have are slightly below the attackers. Perhaps these could be OK.

                    - PM - Small sample size but very little growth and I cut them all.

So here is what I'm noticing....the types matter more than ever and it isn't as simple as scout 10 PS beasts to turn into monsters. Here is what I'm liking:

CDM/CB/RB/LB: PS all the way. No question. You get great speed for the position, good size (up to 6'7") and the strength and defensive stats you want.

LM/RM: I value speed here - so I take wingers all the way. They come with great crossing and finishing as well this time (my 20 YO PTBS is 90+ in both naturally). Attackers work as well you'll be slower but have more size (~5'10-6' vs 5'7-5'9).

CAM: Currently I have only attackers here and they are working well. A little larger than I like (currently have a 6' guy) but decent stats. I am not sure if I can get a winger as a CAM but I'd likely prefer that as the more passing focus, small size/agility are preferred).

ST: This one is really a style thing this year. Currently my starters are an AT and a PS, but I'm not sure that is best. I see the PS as a great target man as they can be huge and powerful. I currently have a 6'2" PS guy who is doing very well but I have a 3/5 6'7" youngster that just needs a few seasons to develop. The finishing isn't the best out the gate but it's serviceable. My other striker is an 84 OVR AT who is 6'0 and ~82 PACE @ 20. Finishing is insane (95+) which is amazing. I see him as a good all around striker, just wish he had a bit more pace. What I really want is a W (RW/LW - they don't come as ST) to try out as I like to have one target man and one speedster up front. I've thrown my monster LM up there as an experiment and its quite nice. If I could hand pick them I'd likely go with 1 W type and one PS monster target man.
