Time to kill the shot meter
The title says it all. I saw Mike Wang mention that he wished he never put it in the game and I agree. The hand holding is over and the crying about " Im Missing Green Releases!!!) would be over quickly. Opinions?Tags: None -

Re: Time to kill the shot meter
Disagree strongly. Removing the shot-meter would remove a skilled portion of the game.Comment

Re: Time to kill the shot meter
please expand on what park of skill will be removed. Or are you talking about the part where you look at the meter fill up instead of your player's natural shooting motion?Comment

Re: Time to kill the shot meter
??? Staring at a meter instead of learning release is considered skill? its the same mechanic as its always been for years. Only difference is GREEN= Make regardless of ratingsComment

Re: Time to kill the shot meter
That's some wierd thinking right here. The shot meter makes the game more accessible and doesn't add any skill whatsoever.
Did Mike really say that though ? I'am kind of surprised.Comment

Re: Time to kill the shot meter
Shot-meter is only there to show how close or how late you are from your perfect release. Now it just gives you 100% to bang your shot when open on perfect release.
If you don't like it, just play it on real-player % if you want your sim-style play.
Removing the 100% green will remove the skill part of it.
Also this game want's to be E-sport so you have to reduce the amount of RNG the game has to be considered such.Comment

Re: Time to kill the shot meter
Mike might want to suspend his Twitter account for several months if he ever decide to remove the green meter, lol.
In hindsight, it's actually is more skill to learn the shooting motions of the player ala NBA 2K11. I admit, I fell into the trap of the shot meter and looking for the green release. I have turned it off, and I'm actually shooting better once I re-learned my player's shooting motion.
The crazy part is that I'm less frustrated or angry when I miss a shot, because I have no clue how close to perfect I was.Comment

Re: Time to kill the shot meter
Does real fg% have anything to do with user timing? Meaning I could use Kyle korver, hold down the shoot button (release it late) and it will not affect the success of his shot?Shot-meter is only there to show how close or how late you are from your perfect release. Now it just gives you 100% to bang your shot when open on perfect release.

Re: Time to kill the shot meter
I vaguely remember the comment, but I don't remember how he said it and the context of the conversation. It's buried in a thread somewhere on OS.Comment

Pretty sure he said he wished they never put green releases in the game, not the shot meter.Comment

Re: Time to kill the shot meter
It will still effect his shot, slightly early and late won't be effected as much on real time %. You just lose the green 100% make on that setting.Comment
