    CHIKARA: Action Arcade Wrestling Interview

We recently had an opportunity to interview David Horn, Producer and Creator of CHIKARA: Action Arcade Wrestling. You can read more about the game and back it on Indiegogo here.

What is Chikara Wrestling and what is different about this game versus other options on the market?

CHIKARA Action Arcade Wrestling gives players an option to experience the crazy world of pro wrestling in a totally unique way. Most, if not all, of the wrestling games that are currently available present the players with a very "simulation" style interpretation of pro wrestling. CHIKARA Action Arcade Wrestling is the evolution of games like Wrestlefest and Saturday Night Slam Masters. It gives players the ability to experience pro wrestling with a fast-paced, fun, totally arcade-style fighting and brawling gameplay.

Thanks so much for this interview!

I'm personally really excited by this project, and hope it gets to its goals. We need more 'fun' sports title, IMHO.

Still unclear whether it's coming to consoles at launch. I asked Dave Horn this.

Hey Steve, first of all, thanks for the interview. I've long waited for some indie companies (game developers and indie wrestling companies for that matter) to do another WWE AllStars-like game so I'm hyped. One question though...
You mentioned "licensed wrestlers" but I'm not exactly clear. Will the game have CHIKARA's homegrown talent to supplement the creation suite? I'm talking women's wrestlers like their first female World Champ Kimber Lee, Heidi Lovelace, and their stars like Jigsaw and the Osirian Portal (who's finisher is literally hypnotizing their opponents into a dance party. That NEEDS to be in there, haha.) Anyway, will these wrestlers be in there or does CHIKARA fall into the trap of licensing characters like NCAA? Thanks for your time.

I've backed this game on Indiegogo and am excited to see the progress of the game. It looks like it'll be pretty fun to play and the creation ideas sound really cool.

Should get an answer to this next week.

I would imagine that the wrestlers will have to be licensed like the NCAA case and every other game out there including but not limited to NBA, Madden, FIFA, UFC, WWE, and MLB. And I would also imagine that if they got the license for the federation/territory they would also get the licenses for the actual wrestlers.

I think this game looks pretty cool. When I saw Saturday Night Slam Masters being mentioned as an inspiration I had to check out the the video. This looks like it's just meant to be fun and not take itself too seriously. As long as the price is right, I'll definitely pick it up.

It's 2016, but you still get attention when you mention WWF No Mercy! Best wrestling game ever, and it's not even close.
