Make a sharpshooter and never have to step into the paint again!
Seriously though, I don't think there's any reasonable way to avoid it as a post scorer or slasher because contact layups at those positions are pretty much inevitable. You could try sticking to mid range jumpers and post fades to avoid it, or just keeping it at bronze to make sure it doesn't affect your shots too much.
Apparently it does the opposite of what it's supposed to do. Instead of reducing how contact affects your shot, it increases it. Higher tiers make it worse too, so light contact on a layup with HOF relentless is probably a F grade shot...
