PS4 Pro Native 4K resolution running at 60 FPS with HDR support?

    According to this gamespot article

NBA2K17 will in fact run at Native 4K/60 FPS with HDR!

With all the talk I have been reading online about how the PS4 Pro is not powerful enough to do true Native 4K/60 FPS not not mention HDR this is indeed wonderful to hear Although it would be awesome I don't expect MLB The Show 16 to be upgraded to take advantage of the more powerful PS4 Pro but MLB The Show 17 should be a shoo in I would think

I sure hope this article is correct.

Perhaps sports games are able to run Native 4K/60 FPS with HDR but not all games will be able to?

If MLB The Show 17 does in fact do Native 4K/60 FPS with HDR it will be by far the biggest graphic update the series has ever seen!

Native 4K could possibly be too much for The Show, since they have open-air stadiums and things like that. But it should at least hit 1440p, and they had better have some decent AA for this game on the Pro for once. I'm really getting tired of the image quality in this franchise.

I'd take better texture filtering over resolution or HDR. Field looks like muddy soup beyond 20 feet.

no offense... but did EVERYONE forget that the ps pro does NOT have a 4K blue ray player installed??? no 4K support without the drive to run it.. sorry guys. I don't see it happening.

          FPS > Resolution

Especially with a game like the Show.

I never got the obsession with pixel density, especially on consoles. Takes gobs of resources for such a little gain.

Can you see a clearer image in 4K? Sure. Is 1080p still going to look nice? Absolutely.

I understand wanting to push the envelope, but this is an area of diminishing returns.

I feel 1440p is a nice sweet spot

MLB stadiums might be more complex to render than a dark NBA arena. Plus The Show's engine seems to be part PS3, part PS4 era technology. If I remember correctly, NBA 2K14 had less features on PS4 because they made the decision to go with a new engine or significantly overhauled it for next-gen.

I think The Show as it is now could be running a lot better on the current PS4 than it does with a higher budget, but that's just speculation.

That has to do with movies, not games.

That's not how it works....there is no uhd drive on a pc but it does 4k...right? Just think about that

Well from Cerny's newest interview there is also 1GB more RAM now for 4K and other random things. The GPU is kind of a dual mirror structure of the OG PS4 and the thing does have some nice and nifty features. The CPU also sees a solid OC boost, which should help this game out a decent amount for things like crowds possibly.

1440p for The Show should almost be a given. But so far no game currently will support this resolution and it might not be on the table. At any rate all we need is a spiffed up 1080p mode with better FPS and image quality. You can get great image quality at 1080p. Hell, many games like Dishonored and Castlevania LoS I have running at 1080p with 4xSGSSAA instead of native 4K because supersampling is just awesome on PC.

I doubt going for 4K would benefit anyone because this game has to be 60FPS. But yeah texture filtering at 16x AF is just something that is a must. No questions asked. It looks so bad when games gimp this. Compared to my PC and even top level PS4 gamesThe Show just hasn't presented us with a truly next-gen experience. I expect that to change with the Pro. It didn't help having to code to the metal for 8 years with the PS3.

1440p alone would make the image quality that much better and I know for fact that Sony has some really really nice AA solutions going for the Pro and OG console.

What is better is that the team has known about the Pro for a LONG time at this point.

What remains to be seen is how far their engine has come and how much of the PS3 tech is being dumped for their PS4 development.

Honestly the PS3 just needs to ****ing die. It's awful. It has no RAM, the GPU sucks, and the CPU is great but extremely technical and complex. Also nobody cares about it anymore.

At this point PS3 sales must barely even be worthwhile past a roster update. That will only escalate with this next version.

I doubt we will be seeing 60 fps.

PS4 and PS4 Pro are required to have the same frame rate online, and I doubt they are going to want drastically different frame rates between the offline and online portions of the game on the Pro.

Most likley the Pro will be capped at 30, and won't experience the awful frame drops the game is sporting this year.

At the very least I expect MLB The Show 17 on the PS4 Pro to be much more photo realistic looking then it will on the standard PS4. The image quality should be a lot higher. Like for example the Jumbo trons will be less blurry and the LED lights on the scoreboards will be much brighter. The grass and dirt will be more realistic looking. And the Player models should also see a nice upgrade in image quality.

I don't know about other games but I have a really good feeling The PS4 Pro is going to be the best thing to happen to MLB The Show in a long time

I wonder if there will be a patch for MLB 16. Mark Cerny described some relatively simple things developers can do to put their games in PS4 Pro mode that only take a few days.

It's also a first party game. I mean, if Shadow of Mordor is getting a patch, anything is possible. Otherwise, games have to have a Pro mode to see any boost at all, since the GPU will be throttled for PS4 non-pro games.

Wait what? There is no way in hell Show is going to 30FPS lol. The OG game is 60FPS or at least that is what they aim for.... putting the game to 30FPS would be completely ridiculous.

And I guess that 1440p is not something most devs do, and I am not sure Sony even supports this resolution. But Tomb Raider is doing 1800p so whatever it is possible.

There will be no patch for MLB 16. It would be entirely pointless. They are no longer even developing the game, and the game is just another version of a new game they will be trying to sell.

Not sure what game you are playing.....The Show 16 can barely do a solid 30 frames per second without significant dips on PS4.

None of the previous PS4 installment have hit a solid 60 fps either.

The show has been 60 FPS since like 08.
