Re: NBA 2K17 Remains a Solid Buy
I disagree. The game to me is broken since the last patch was having great games before that. I'm a 2k lifer been playing since the first NBA 2k. I play on hof offline only and I I've tried but I can't play this until another patch comes to fix the gameplay issues. That smooth feel from day one is gone cpu defense is overpowering now, and for some reason my ball handling just feels off since the patch. Also this was a problem for me pre patch as well FOUL CALLS I'm getting waaay to many.Comment

thank god I'm not the only who see this. the game felt so much smoother in first release as it always does. it felt different. now we cant get by the ai for nothing. that's the dangers of patches and fixes. when we get a patch from developers, its permanent. that should not be anymore. they need to change the system on how patches are deployed.Comment

The negative hyperbole is an every year thing on this site, which is why I typically stay away from threads post release. Instead of a simple "this is what is wrong with the game 2k needs to look into a fix" it turns into "this game is ruined. What is 2k doing?"Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Remains a Solid Buy
Pro Am team arena has been ruined by that same "boot back to the main menu before tip off" bug since patch 1.04 was released two weeks ago. Prior to that patch, team arena games were also having lots of trouble registering wins/losses correctly.
There's also a free throw camera angle glitch in all versions of Pro Am that's been around since release day and still hasn't been fixed.
If you've played any of the online MyPlayer modes, then you've probably noticed a lot of people walking around with 96 to 98 overall ratings that they obtained by abusing a widespread practice mode exploit. Those glitchers are just now starting to have their ratings reset back down to a 95, after getting to play online with a competitive advantage for the first 6 weeks. 2K's punishment of these exploiters remains way too soft for something that's affected modes with esports tournaments and prizes at stake. Many of the teams at the top of the Pro Am leaderboards right now had MyPlayers who took advantage of that exploit. 2K continues to let cheaters off the hook instead of handing out account bans or deleting people's characters/teams like any other major esport would do.
Even if you only play offline, you still have to deal with awful off-ball screen defensive logic, moving screen animations that drag defenders 10 to 15 feet away from their assignment, and a programming error that has accidentally reversed all of the button commands for the running dribble moves. All of that stuff was present on day one and still hasn't been patched.
Those are some pretty major problems that justify the air of negativity surrounding the game right now.Last edited by jyoung; 10-28-2016, 05:44 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Remains a Solid Buy
I like the game overall as well, especially gameplay wise there have been so many improvements from 2k16 and you can definitely see that 'user skill' is getting love and you can see that physicality started to play a factor finally and a lot of bumping bruising, fighting and great inside scoring or on the opposite defending the rim etc. etc. and you can be sure i'm one of the first people who recognizes the tiny little downsides on gameplay it's not all honeymoon i know and i'm sure 2k devs have heard me in a lot of different gameplay issues (so many areas to improve) threads etc. so please don't rip me as well. Credit is where credit due. The journey continues especially on the gameplay side and where we've gotten this year is pretty cool and can only be better as long as we stay put and let them hear the positive criticism.Comment

Seriously what game are y'all playing? NBA 2k always has great potential of what it could be.
But I'm apart of the minority that cares for sim style of play. There are glimpses of something like NBA but far from it.

Well, the comment section on this article is about exactly how I figured it'd be before I clicked on it.
Can't even come to OS anymore without being drowned in negativity towards this game.
Seriously, why do you guys even own this game anymore if you hate it with this much passion? I would have sold it weeks ago if I felt same way you guys do.
Digital copies. Also, why not wait for all the patches?
The shade thrown at the game is well deserved. Opinions on gameplay, sneakers, player models, etc aside - it's buggy and filled with things that scream unpolished.
Take your own advice, bro. If you don't like the threads, don't read them.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Remains a Solid Buy
I dunno, I love this game as much as I have always loved the past NBA2K games...
My beef this year is with the fact that they ruined the ability to SharePlay with my friend so we could do our usual MyLeague together both couch co-op and Online (via PS4 Shareplay). This year they disabled ALL audio for the guest user during shareplay due to Copyright/Licensing issues.
Really takes a lot away from my experience, since this was possible in NBA2K16.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Remains a Solid Buy
I mainly play Pro-am. That's what my friends and I prefer over anything else. Unfortunately its the most broken of all game modes. Can't even play a full 5 on 5 Walk-on game without someone quitting because their friend was put on a different court. I wont list all of the issues because i'm sure everyone is well aware. Now I do really like this game, just wish that things worked correctly.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Remains a Solid Buy
Some of it is definitely deserved. But I just find it funny how everytime someone speaks highly of the game while talking about THEIR experience, you see half of the forum go after that person like "Mannnn how in the world do you like that game? It's not even close to(insert hyperbole)" and people ready to force them to change their opinion of the game.
There was thread here where just last week(I think it was Smirkin Dirk)where that observation actually happened, lol.
2 months ago, folks were quick to shut down ANY negativity towards the game. 2 months later, now they're quick to shut down ANY positivity towards it.
Yeah, it's been very weird. Ive been posting many of the negatives of the game; all Ive been saying is that for me, the positives far outweigh the negatives.
Ive been accused if being on 2K's payroll. Ive had a couple of people tell me my username and profile pic makes people upset. Maybe I should rename myself Sad Dirk and use a pic of him from the 2007 playoffs.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Remains a Solid Buy
Fact that Mike had to make a "band aid" fix to green releases (that has yet to come out due to some bug that will infect my career files), more arcade gimmicks such as Op badges and green release mechanics, no current updated roster to play with, MyTeam commercials that you can't skip, player model downgrades etc there is a good base that consumers can stand on when complaining about the consistency of this years game.
I'm mainly an offline players and my biggest concern I found this year is that the usual mistakes and unrealism could be fixed with my slider editing and adjustments. However this year there seems to be something buried deep in the gameplay engine that does not allow sliders to be as useful as in past years. It's as if the power of sliders has been decreased to a marginal effect this year instead of being able to create drastic effects like in years past.
I have CPU def awareness on 100, their on ball defense at 58 and there help defense at 85 yet I can score over 100 points a game in 8min quarters while shooting 60+ percent. Mind you this is on HOF with Mike's suggested shooting sliders he dropped in a thread a few days ago. There's something buried deeper in the engine this year that is causing problems to consistent gameplay and the effects of sliders especially for CPU defense.
Love 2k, bought one very year since Dreamcast days but some of the new errors that have popped up have been ones that I haven't seen 2k make in years past.Last edited by jxelite2430; 10-28-2016, 09:01 PM.Comment
