I know we want realistic gameplay but this is a bit much. There needs to be a way to tone this down

Re: Special Teams Blocks Getting Out of Control
are you holding down the kick button before releasing your kick? after you press it for the accuracy, hold it down and wait a bit before releasing it. if not, the opponent can know when you are going to snap it. when I play my friends I have to tell them this or I block every kick.Comment

Re: Special Teams Blocks Getting Out of Control
NFL teams generally average 1 blocked field goal every other season, but there's generally one or two units that have 3-5 blocked each season.
Remember that the block plays are sell-outs. If you watch field goal plays, teams don't sell out for the block very often (in fact, generally less than once per game). If NFL teams did what Madden players did (run FG Block every attempt and ignore the threat of a fake), they'd probably get the kind of block numbers you're getting, but often get burned by fakes. Learn to run the fakes and force your opponent to be more conservative.

Re: Special Teams Blocks Getting Out of Control
I started using the sim / watch play function due to this and the "sell out" STILL happens way too often...leading to slightly too many blocks...
Nice addition, but somewhat over-implemented, IMHO...
Despite AJ's solid workaround suggestion, we really shouldn't have to fake kicks to weed that out...
The low success rate on fakes isn't worth the risk in tight games...
I did find that when manually kicking long ones, the AI "likes it" when you aim for a lower trajectory...Comment

Thing is though now that the nerfed the kicking game so much really the only way to get a missed fg or xp is to have it blocked.I started using the sim / watch play function due to this and the "sell out" STILL happens way too often...leading to slightly too many blocks...

Re: Special Teams Blocks Getting Out of Control
Your agenda is getting too far over the top.
Stop bringing it into every thread.
This discussion is about blocked kicks, not the makeability of kicks. Just because you are mad about something you don't need to derail others threads about different issues.Comment

Re: Special Teams Blocks Getting Out of Control
So far I haven't blocked any kicks but I had 3 fg blocked by cpu against me in first season. Each time they immediately scoop it up and return for touchdown. Seems totally scripted. Is this the norm? It would be great just recover it myself or have the cpu just fall on it once and a while. Thanks
