Almost 4 months since launch, what do you all think about this game?

I played this game for hours everyday since launch to basically mid October then took a break and have started coming back recently. In my opinion, now that the "newness" of the game has worn out, in my opinion, this game is no better or no worse than Madden 16 and the previous games.

There are still too many issues and franchise mode is tedious to play sometimes, and the gameplay is still a mess even with sliders, which was my main gripe with M16.

So many things drive me crazy about this game, and as I keep playing, I keep finding new ones. Anyways, Im not just trying to bash on this game, I like it, but looking back at what the consensus was on this forum back in august and september saying "this is the best madden in a long time" I cant agree with it anymore even though I did back then.

Anyways, what do you guys think about the state of the game since launch?

I don't feel it's improved any and there has been some regression to the game, but I don't see some of the regressions because I found sliders that combat the high completion percentages on all pro.

An all madden, the QB Acc slider is a hot mess, it doesn't work properly.

Also, since the last patch, FG's have been made easier to help the lag for the online players.

The game was playing better before the last patch.

We are hoping and waiting some of these will be fixed, but it doesn't appear the FG's will be fixed.

I honestly feel like they took CFM and just ruined it for no reason. Players starting to regress while still in their primes is completely asinine. Seriously regression starting at 26/27 years old..... The new Free Agency bidding systems pretty much ruined all mystery and creative contracting that you used to be able to do. I don't know who or why they thought these were the types of changes people wanted but its taken a lot of immersion out of CFM along with a huge portion of the fun factor.

It's just Madden. Pretty much the same as any other edition of Madden. The movement/animations will hold this game back until they move to the new engine... unless they create the animations in the same way.

It's not the worst football game I've played, and it's not the best.

I liked it a lot the first week or so, and then it got tired, and I haven't played in over a month. CFM is so far from what it should be, which made it really hard to keep playing since that is the only mode I am interested in. I might have been able to put up with that(although probably not for too long) if the gameplay issues, such as the CPU QB play and overall QB accuracy, were fixed.

So, not a fan of the game, and I regret buying it.

It's one of the bigger, if not biggest, disappointment's IMO. When I look back at the feature list it's hard for me to find something that undoubtedly delivered. Gap play and zones are the only ones that really hit for me and even then the zones didn't really seem very effective until the second patch. But the ball-carrier moves were clunky and not much of an improvement. Tackle battle was a terrible decision. Special teams improvements were welcomed but the fact that kicks were still automatic (for me) at release and were made easier killed that. The scripted nature of blocks wasn't a good idea IMO either. As for CFM practice squad was nice but the lack of even having proper eligibility rules was a bit mindblowing. Gameplanning was a good idea but the fact that it only tracks one down of the previous game pretty much killed the purpose of it. Play The Moment was something that seemed to work so that was a definite hit. Wasn't my cup of tea but I never had any issues with it in my time playing. But throw all that on top of the legacy issues (terrible OL play, Robo QB, etc.) and some new issues (statue QB's, too many throwaways, punting into the wind) and this year was a bad year IMO.

I am completely frustrated and disgusted with the game and EA. I was so excited about it at launch with its promise that Franchise was the biggest issue this year. The biggest hope of all was POTM feature. EA has known for months about the punting and kicking issue that completely destroys and ruins the game if you are playing in a windy stadium, even the domed stadiums have wind. It has ruined so many games. While Basket ball is patched and even the show has patched last year’s game recently. EA does absolutely NOTHING. Eleven weeks into the real season and only five or six games remain and nothing. No communication, no effort, no concern, NOTHING . It makes me sick, waiting day after day for what. As I have said before, I know patches can take time, but without communication from EA, there is not ONE person on this site that can say for sure if there will even be a patch. As for myself, the game has become a 60 dollar coaster and will remain that way until they fix it, IF EVER, which I am beginning to doubt they ever will, they have our money, and the only thing that seems to be important to them is selling packages now to ON-LINE PEOPLE. As far as I am concerned they used FRANCHISE as a marketing ploy to sell the game to those of us that were ready to give up on it. Just like Politics, say whatever it takes, make promises, and once you are elected. Who cares? You already won..

Re: Almost 4 months since launch, what do you all think about this game?

At this stage in the season id have to say 16 was better. 17 has taken a big step in the wrong direction with its issues and no support to remedy it. 16 had its quirks too but i dont feel it was as bad off as 17 is in its current state.

Id have to say all the hype and promises leading up to this year has been a huge let down and has perhaps cost ea in the long run.

People are going to be more reluctant in buying the next years versions because of the let down of this year and previous years building up to this.

I mean we are on ps4 and in 2016 there shouldnt be all these issues stopping people from playing an enjoyable game of football.

I knew when ea bought out the nfl license it was bad news. Competition is good for business. Without it ea knows we are force to buy madden if we want to play football each year and the product suffers for it.

Madden needs a major over haul.

Re: Almost 4 months since launch, what do you all think about this game?

As a franchise player, I'm still thoroughly enjoying the game. Though it's not perfect, I think that it's one of the most consistently and thoroughly designed franchise gameplay experiences in many years. It is not necessarily the deepest or most dynamic, however.

I like that there is consistent and constant downward pressure on my best rostered players; they are going to cease to be able to significantly improve and subsequently decline, and I will have to replace them. This knowledge that my players absolutely will decline, and pretty predictably once they hit 29 years old, reinforces the importance of both drafting well - to find young talented players who will develop quickly - and training - the act of actually developing those players. If you miss in the draft or give up too much draft capital in trading for other stars, then you have to go into free agency and overpay a middling player, or pay to keep a middling player you'd otherwise let go, which decreases your ability to retain the players you do develop.

The game being so predictable - players will always decline at a certain minimum rate depending on their development trait, offseason free agent signings will always go to the best bid based on total points, etc. - makes it very easy and appealing to devise robust team-building strategies over the course of the mode. However, absolute predictability also hinders the league from being truly organic (the dynamic dev trait is perhaps the singular "game changer" in the mode which can throw a wrench in one's team-building plans). I'd like to see that aspect of the mode, the lack of dynamism, improve going forward.

There are also some holdover issues I don't like and I hope to see corrected, as well: trading is too easy, CPU teams don't consider contracts whatsoever in trades, QB accuracy is generally too high, running in online user-vs-user games feels very hard... but I'm still very much enjoying the core experience and looking forward to playing the third season in my league after we do the draft this weekend.

Is regression permanent? No because you can use XP points, but physical attributes are the most expensive and start to decline at either 26 or 27 through whenever that player retires. There is an amazing chart but I dont have the link.

The first month with the game was pretty awesome. I had been waiting for what seemed like an enternity for the game to get to this point. I'm very found of cfm although it lacks depth in areas such as scouting/drafting, game planning and team personality dictated by roster and team philosophy. The age regression may be the best thing to be added into cfm in some time. It really gives incentive to keep playing and building your team every year.

                        Then the tuner.....
This ruined the game for me. Why talk "simulation" and "ratings matter" to just completely neuter it just weeks into the season?! As it sits the only ratings that have any impact for USER controlled QB is speed and to some extent throw power.

Without fixes to these issues, OL/DL interactions and off the ball injuries not sure I can justify a purchase next year.

Because MUT players (or 95% of online players. Some online people want a simulation game, I guess) don't want to see their QB to miss a single throw or their WR drop a pass. So, they're complained and EA just tuned that and now, Robot QB are back, they're all playing the same and ratings don't matter anymore and, on top of that, the sliders are broken too. EA only care about online players whether it be FIFA, NHL or Madden because they receive money with their packs and other online stuff. That's all.
