Re: The Magic of A.C.E.
The devs said there's no momentum programming in the game, i respect that and believe it.
But no doubt ACE is the behind the scene black hand for come back and rubberbanding.
Again i need to claim i'm just a cpu v cpu player(watch over 200 games 12 min quarter in these few months), and which means there's no so call 2 different engines to AI the two teams, they share same slider. But still, i don't know how, the game can still notice which team is the "user", so many times, the game will "balance" the game result in that way....BY ACE.
1) IF user team up by 10, all team player's hedge turn from soft hedge to hard hedge.
2) IF user team up by 20, team ACE start double team (i've even saw triple team) on ball handler, no matter his score are.
*it's interesting in cpu v cpu game, cpu team NEVER (or just say under 1%) use double team.
vs
1) IF cpu team down by 15, their team player will buff with doge picker, basically immune to pnr.
2) IF cpu down by 20, all players will buff with brick wall, & even a user player has passed through their screen, they will automatically sucked back to the screener, make cpu all off ball screens are 120% success.
I'm not here to make complaint or what, i just to share my observation.
And ACE, to me, means Aid Cpu Equal.Last edited by hokimkim; 12-01-2016, 05:24 AM.Comment

Re: The Magic of A.C.E.
I do not buy into comeback code, but I do agree with both of these. However, I always feel the game starts to completely ignore PNRs and Screens and, in my opinion, it starts to become impossible to protect the restricted.

By the way, does anyone know what settings allow you to protect the restricted area? Not the paint. I have the paint pretty well protected. But once players get into the restricted area it's pretty much automatic. I am giving up near 75% and I've tried absolutely everything I can (protect the paint / etc.). Any help will be great.Comment

But people have been complaining about the comeback and momentum issues since before ACE was even implemented in the game. The devs said there's no momentum programming in the game, i respect that and believe it.

Re: The Magic of A.C.E.
Well i agree most of what's said here, if ACE is always providing the very best solution then ofcourse games end close or vice versa.. And with that in mind believe before Ace is updated 2k17 there were a lot of blowouts which was great and i remember coming here and giving my props to deva about blowouts happening way more frequent but then ace updates in and we're back to closeouts and comebacks as always. So.

Re: The Magic of A.C.E.
ACE does not get 1/1,000,000 the respect it deserves.
It's the smartest AI I have ever seen in a sports game, and IMO, sets 2K above all those sports games.
But I agree with Impetuous that it needs to be more transparent.Comment

Re: The Magic of A.C.E.
How did this become another 'comeback code' discussion man? Lol.
I think the OP makes a great point. That was a really nice adjustment and I would love to know what ACE is actually doing there. I don't know if its actually 'broken' though, it doesnt seem to be actually designed to tell us whats taking place....Comment

Re: The Magic of A.C.E.
Yeah, I don't know why 2K isnt yelling about ACE from the rooftops.
It's the game's point of difference IMO.Comment

Re: The Magic of A.C.E.
I'm not saying ACE is Broken, I would like for ACE to, by way of the MENU's be consistent and "always on/highlighted". As of now if you have ACE on or off the MENU System will select and deselect your options and it changes all the time. Which messes "YOU" up, which in turn messes up the Defense. How did this become another 'comeback code' discussion man? Lol.

I was going to edit my post so you wouldnt interperate it that way. I agree with your point. You asked 2k to fix it in your vid, I'm just saying I dont think it was designed that way in the first place....but it should be, I agree.Comment

Re: The Magic of A.C.E.
The comeback code is 100% in the game. They are lying if they say it isn't.
It looks to be more of a "momentum" thing though as it gives teams advantages for runs depending on if they are losing.Comment

Re: The Magic of A.C.E.
Agree to disagree that most people would say there's no "comeback" code. But we all know there's Momentum in the game. I think it's one of the same. There are times when things go right for you and the momentum will swing 1 way to the other depends on the game.
Hence why I think people should realize to break the Momentum or Comeback code is to call timeout or break the cycle by making money plays or dunks.Comment
