This is why you will never see full classic teams in the game anymore. You are not going to see the game released with, let's say, the 1961 Yankees, 1967 Red Sox, 1975 Reds, etc. They can't because they players are no longer part of the MLBPA and would have to be negotiated 1 on 1 for all players that were on those teams.

So you will see additional oldtime players added as Legends...but for full teams from the past we will still have to rely on the dedicated and talented roster makers here.

Yeah there isn't any way they can afford to add historic teams. Well not enough teams to interest players.

I defintiely agree with your list and would love to see all that implemented as well.
The one minute trailer confirms the engine and player models are the same. The known additions are NB cleats, jersey wrinkles, R.B.I. Baseball mode and Ken Griffey Jr. Not exactly the same reaction as when I watched the Cubs win the World Series. I realize that Griffey and the DD mode brings in additional revenue, fine. If franchise mode isn't their focus and a revamped commentary is not implemented this year, It's not for me. I can't even listen to Matt Vasgersian when he's on the MLB Network anymore. If sales start to dip however, I stated my peace on why I am no longer a customer. If there isn't any competition, wouldn't it make sense to show something interesting so that people would actually want to preorder it? Just a rhetorical question. I'm not going to check back on this thread any longer. It's unfortunate that many of you are content with the status quo.

Hmm, I think the real problem then lies with the non-OS crowd. They just have to be more like us.

Definitely disagree with you. Franchise modes have been around for two decades and most of us who have been around for long enough remember that mode as the bread and butter of sports gaming. Online gaming is a recent phenomenon. Although "real" is probably not a good term for me to use, "original" would probably be more accurate.

At the end of the day what I'm seeing is that they are neglecting the needs of a very large group in favor of another. If you keep catering to the DD players you will eventually lose your franchise guys because you've done nothing to keep them. I'm sorry but Griffey being in the game is stupid to me.

If you can play Griff in RTTS or some sort of custom career mode, then I'm definitely interested. But otherwise, I've never played DD. I guess maybe it's time I finally try it.

I play some franchise some rtts and some dd. I wouldn't consider myself anymore important than any other person who plays this game or what their wishes are. Some eof the stuff I see on here I think is silly ppl really care or want those things but I know to each their own and don't think since I was able to play in the 1990s when less options were available makes me original or real.

Catering to the DD players generates revenue, which helps them improve all aspects of the game.

What gaming company uses its revenue stream to better other parts of a game? FIFA, CS:GO, and other games focused on micro-transaction modes use all the generated revenue to make the revenue generation better. If DD makes them more money, then more money will be poured into DD (not other modes). FIFA is a great example of what NOT to do...even though The Show is headed in that direction. Focus on all the micro-transactions and the core game remains the same with minor changes.

All I want is a baseball game that runs at a smooth 60 fps. Is that so hard?

How can you say they're neglecting one group for another when franchise was rehauled in the past 2 iterations? And other than new legends not much has changed in DD.

                          They rehauled franchise mode?

And practically all of DD was redone for 15.

I have nothing to base my claim on other than the huge leap in quality that sports games have received over the last two console generations. Which -- as it just so happens -- is when the UT model was introduced. More capital = better product, at least that's the way I see it when it comes to sports games.

Since it's a matter of opinion, I guess you could argue that Madden, NBA, FIFA, NHL, The Show, etc, haven't improved dramatically in the last five or six years, that all game companies are money grubbing, that franchise never gets enough love, etc., etc. My opinion is that all of these games have improved dramatically in key areas over the years, and the influx of UT revenue is one part of the reason.

It produces revenue that could be used to improve all aspects, but it probably wouldn't.

FIFA would be the obvious example as they pretty much made the model, but since Utimate team kicked off, Career mode has been completely neglected, it's more basic and buggy than on FIFA games from 6 years ago. The more cynical FIFA players believe EA deliberately crippled offline game modes to "encourage" players to play the money generating UT instead

The only thing that will keep them investing in career or RTTS modes is people telling them that they have to if they want them to buy the game.
