Yeah I'd say that was a shocker, losing Schultz to the NFL. Sure he made some nice plays down the stretch, but man he's really reaching if he thinks he's ready for the league.

I can't say I am that surprised about Coleman leaving; he probably no longer wants to show face on campus after missing that last second field goal in the bowl game.

A lot of very interesting prospects for you, although I am little worried not to see any cornerbacks mentioned. I like the focus on rebuilding in the trenches. You always work from the ball out has been my opinion. Hopefully you can snag at least one of the big guys.

Good luck in the rest of the offseason! Can't wait to see what happens next!
Coleman had a pretty average year, but I guess in the end, his 90 overall rating was all that mattered.

I will have an update on the kicking situation shortly, but as far as the cornerback issue - yeah, we're in trouble. There is no help coming through the door in off-season recruiting unfortunately. No new prospects at this position appeared. We are officially in crisis mode at that spot. I did sign a nice 3-star athlete recruit with 4.34 speed earlier this season named Brian Malone, who I can move to corner, but I don't envision him being anything special. That will indeed be a problem area for us next season.

I will be running a couple more weeks of off-season recruiting this weekend. I'd say of that group, OT Adam Warren and DT Dominique Mason are the guys I want most. You can never have enough good offensive and defensive linemen.

Also great to see Southern Miss in there as well to keep the rivalry hot. Seeing you land all three of these guys would be amazing but I think there's a chance you only grab one of them.
Yes Eve Jewell is indeed a hottie. You weren't around for the start of this dynasty, but in real life she's a former Tulane student turned Playboy model who has been a continuous gag throughout this dynasty. In this dynasty, as Cheese2121 would attest to, we've watched her go from campus football team groupee/skank to blossoming into a "well-connected" on-campus reporter. I highly recommend you google her with the search filters OFF.

It is amazing just how many natural storylines have developed as of late and it continues with this year's recruiting trail. Pretty much all of my major recruiting battles are coming down to my top rivals. I plan to play TCU starting with the season after next, so it will be cool playing against many of the guys I have lost out on for the past couple of years.

Thanks man - I have a feeling we will have a couple of epic showdowns with him down the road. I can't wait to watch he and Tony Tompkins (the guy whose role he basically stole last year) go head-to-head in a couple of years; the stories write themselves sometimes.

But yeah, we will definitely be trying to put some hard hits on him when we see him in a couple of years. I am really looking forward to that matchup in 2024.

    Thanks as always fellas!

      Sat, 28 Jan 2023 06:44:27 -0700
Erin Andrews of FOXSports.com reports that 4-star FS/SS Terrell Faulk (6-0, 207, 4.62 40-time, #6 rated SS) has committed to sign with Tulane on Wednesday's National Signing Day. The Huntington, New York native chose Tulane over TCU and Boise St., and is expected to immediately be plugged in as a core special teams player while competing for playing time behind returning junior safeties LeCharles Smith Jr. (79 ovr) and Brandon Davidson (82 ovr).

"Terrell is a guy we identified very late in the process after he came on very strong in his senior year," said Tulane defensive coordinator Steve Ellis.

"We think he can come in and contribute right away and could find himself starting within the next year or two. He is a big time hitter and we saw him put guys on their tails left and right on tape."

Olivia Harlan of ESPN.com reports that blue chip OLB Bryan Anderson (6-5, 221, 4.62 40 time, #5 rated OLB) has committed to sign with TCU on Wednesday's National Signing Day. The Timberlane, Louisiana native chose the Horned Frogs despite being heavily pursued by his home-state teams Tulane and LSU.

Tulane | 3-star PK Larson commits
      Sat, 28 Jan 2023 09:45:01 -0700
Eve Jewell of TulaneInsider.com reports that 3-star PK Aaron Larson (C+ KPW, B- KAC), rated as the nation's #2 available place kicker in this year's recruiting pool, has committed to Tulane. The 5-10 189 pound Richmond, Kentucky native is expected to immediately cease the team's starting place kicker job, which was made vacant by the unexpected departure of junior PK Chris Coleman, who elected to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.

I like the signing of Faulk a lot. A hard hitting safety who can lay people out should develop into a nice cornerstone for your defense while bringing it some personality.

Also a solid signing in Larson who fills an immediate void. Hopefully his leg strength can develop a little.

Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the signings play out!

Thanks man...I envision Faulk as a contributor on special teams early on and should be a starter by year 3 at the latest.

I am a little worried about Lawson's ratings, but as you know, I enjoy it when my kicker has issues (that 50-yard miss by Coleman in our bowl game was disappointing but I loved it at the same time).

I plan to have the "National Signing Day" results posted tomorrow!

Faulk should be a good get for you guys and hopefully is foreshadowing of other big signings on NSD.

As you'll see in a moment, unfortunately our off-season haul was pretty unimpressive. All we were able to add was a couple of "okay" 4-star safeties and the kicker Larson. Our previously documented issues at corner will persist into the fall I'm afraid.

                Wed, 25 Jan 2023 10:26:04 -0700
Eve Jewell of TulaneInsider.com reports that blue chip DT Dominique Mason (6-1, 291, #1 rated DT) has signed a National Letter of Intent with Alabama. The Duncanville, Texas native chose the Crimson Tide after also giving strong consideration to both Tulane and TCU.

Mason is expected to immediately contribute to Alabama's already-stout defense immediately next fall.

Eve Jewell of TulaneInsider.com reports that 4-star OT Adam Warren (6-6, 277, #22 rated OT) has signed a National Letter of Intent with Southern Miss. The Durant, Mississippi native chose the Golden Eagles after also giving strong consideration to both Tulane and LSU.

Warren is expected by many to be a plug-and-play starter for Southern Miss next fall.

                Wed, 25 Jan 2023 17:17:14 -0700
Eve Jewell of TulaneInsider.com reports that 4-star SS Joseph "JoJo" Price (6-7, 203, 4.62 40-time, #8 rated SS) has signed a National Letter of Intent with Tulane. The Jenison, Michigan native chose the Green Wave after also giving strong consideration to both Michigan St. and Central Michigan.

Price is considered a linebacker/safety tweener due to his unusual size for his position. Despite being a superb athlete however, he is likely a redshirt candidate, as he played only one season of high school football and is considered more of a developmental prospect.

Perhaps not your flashiest class to date but still I think a lot of solid pieces there. The things I liked were definitely Pearson, Gray and Smith. All appear to be day one starters. I think Smith will be of the utmost importance and looks like he could fill in nicely as a corner as needed. I also like Jamaal Green, I think he could develop into a nice prospect and could be decent as a plug and play dime corner if needed. It is too bad he is a junior.

I was pretty underwhelmed with Faulk and JoJo. I was hoping for a little more from both but maybe with some development time...

Overall though, I think you have to be pretty happy with the class. In the ideal world, the corners would have been better but you're coach geezy and you will make it work.

As for the rest of the nation...Alabama continues to stick it to you. I think I might have actually swore out loud when I saw they pulled in Mason. The rich get richer as they say. As for Notre Dame, holy cow! They practically signed an entire day one team at this rate. Will be interesting to see where that lands them in the long haul.

                        Loving this as always!

Solid recruiting class. Maybe I'm just biased towards Michigan kids but JoJo and C.J. look to be future studs on your defense. SS depth looks nice, Jonathan Smith is a great grab and will most likely ball from Day 1.

Understandable that the secondary looks to be a weaker point in this class, but sometimes the overall doesn't tell the whole story. Benny Smith could be a big piece with his athleticism/size ratio and decent coverage ratings starting out.

I'm guessing Notre Dame's got the snake oil going in getting all those highly touted prospects, lol

Unlike the other guys, I like Malone more than Smith, but I tend to prefer speed over everything else at CB in the NCAA series.

                            Notre Dame ... wow.

Notre Dame pulled in some major recruits. Hopefully you'll be able to get thing done with these new signings. If anyone can do it. It's you. Good luck with next season.

Pretty good class overall, looks like it was a tough year to get any five-stars - no parity in that class.
