    Nap Town - Indianapolis Pacers

    Nap Town - Indiana Pacers

    History

The Indiana Pacers were established in the ABA in 1967, and in 1976, became an NBA team due to the merger. The name comes from type of car associated with the Indianapolis 500. In the ABA days, the Pacers were quite successful and ultimately able to merge into the NBA with just a few other teams. The following seasons in the NBA were hard and largely uneventful. In 1987, the Pacers signed player Reggie Miller. The next year, Rik Smits. They would both become Indiana legends in the following years.

In 1993, Larry Brown was hired as coach. With Reggie at the helm, the Pacers secured a comfortable playoff position against the Knicks. This finally cemented his superstar status with amazing performances. However, in 2004, the Pacers took a massive hit and started to decline. Ron Artest, a Pacer player at the time, fouled Ben Wallace of the Detroit Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Wallace punched Artest, and it escalated into a full on brawl with both players and fans. For the next five or so years, the team never fully recovered. In 2010, the Paul George era began.

    Preamble

I have been a fan of the Pacers since 2000 when I could actually comprehend the rules of basketball. This is my first dynasty so I might be a little rusty. I don't know if it will be good, but I'll try to have fun. There will be fourteen games a season, ten minute quarters, and best of three playoffs. It will also all be simulated. Excuse the typo. I totally meant Indiana. If a mod could change it, that'd be nice.

        Pacers Dominate in Season Opener

The Pacers won their season opener on the road against the Wizards, 102-86. After a fairly contested two quarters, the Pacers pulled ahead in the third quarter and never looked back. Jeff Teague, who is playing his first season as a Pacer, scored 21 points and 12 assists. Paul George had an excellent night with 23 points. Behind him was Thaddeus Young, who had 14. For the Wizards, Otto Porter had 18 points. John Wall had 16. What gave the Pacers the edge over the Wizards was steals, turnovers, and fast break points. The Pacers continually found ways to poke the ball out and score. The Wizards showed a poor sense of ball security which ultimately lead to the Pacers taking advantage of them.
