Talk to the NFL about that, EA purchased what was offered. I'm sure they would buy a license even if it wasn't exclusive. For some reason people blame EA for this, it was the NFL that wanted to reduce it to a single license. They provide oversight on almost every aspect of the game (Classic No Fun League) and having to only oversee a single game is easier.Follow me on Twitter @T4VertsComment

Regardless of who is at fault we the fan are suffering due to the business decisions made based on no competition. They are sound business decisions for the set of circumstances they operate under. Once we buy the game there is nothing more in it for them to cater to us. At this point I would prefer a non nfl football game to what madden offers. Punting worked in football games 25 years ago. They mEssed it up with a patch and then said they had it fixed but refused to put it in two patches now. Nobody can defend that as the actions of a company that cares about quality.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 17 Title Update #8 Available Now, Here Are The Details
Enough is enough. EA said the punt issue WAS FIXED a month ago before the patch but didn't include it in patch 7; it just fell off for some unexplained reason. Patch 8 and nothing again. Now an OL player whines because of an issue that cost him a game and EA bends over backwards to patch it immediately within two weeks time. Make all the excuses you want for them, it is obvious that OL comes long and far before offline franchise people. Of course the big sell advertisement was all Franchise this year. What a joke.
So if the punting issue was FIXED as CLINT said, then why wasn't it added to this amazing quick fix for On-liners. Guess it just isn't important enough for us. What about the games the punting issue has cost me? Guess that don't matter either.
In the meantime, we wait for absolutely NOTHING, Maybe they will fix it during the middle of baseball season long after FB season is over. Or maybe in Madden 18, but I have lost total faith and I personally don't think the issue has been fixed nor will it be.
I will believe it when I see it, but at this point I feel I am blind.
And I watched the Madden Classic final the night it aired it was not cheese. It was pretty sim football. The only thing that really wasn't sim was SpotMePlz going for it on 4th down. And I brought it up in a Twitch stream I was watching the next day. And the streamer said that coaches if they were playing with a 4 minute clock they probably wouldn't punt the ball either. So in reality you could actually debate whether that move by SpotMePlz was actually sim or not.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 17 Title Update #8 Available Now, Here Are The Details
The writing is clearly on the wall. I'm becoming more and more certain that '17 is the last Madden I will buy for the foreseeable future. I'll roll with my OOTB version for the next few years. At best I'll wait to purchase, see if the sim crowd approves of QBA and tackling physics, etc and buy the disc version so I have control over the patches.
This is such a shame though, this game was right there and then fell off a cliff in the name of pleasing the online crowd. I find it very hard to believe that any post-release testing is done HUM vs CPU, it must all be done H2H. Forget for a second that glaring issues still exist like the punting bug and QBA and just focus on the massive changes to the feel of the game that came about via the patches. This game is so darn vanilla right now. The physics engine was basically removed, I mean it is stunning to go back and play the OOTB version and see how much better and more diverse the tackling is, the DB/WR interaction, the pass rush, etc. Right now every team feels the same, every QB feels the same, every tackle feels the same, almost every game feels the same. The CPU has never been weaker on All Madden than it is right now. I'd won something like 15 straight games post-patch on default All Madden before I shelved the game. First game using OOTB settings on default All Pro I lost by 21. The game is dinged right now if you're an offline gamer.
This development is a first with Madden and brings a new element of uncertainty to the series. As consumers, what are we supposed to do? We were initially given a really fun, challenging and diverse game OOTB. Post-patches/updates, the game is far worse than it was in August both visually and in terms of gameplay. I don't know how anyone can trust the dev team, bless their intentions, as there's nothing stopping EA from pulling the rug out from underneath the offline crowd again with '18 even if it's not intentional."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Madden NFL 17 Title Update #8 Available Now, Here Are The Details
Given that this update also contains stuff for the MUT winter promotional content stuff, I kinda doubt that this bug fix is exclusively a knee-jerk reaction to the Madden Classic. AAA game developers simply can't move that fast, and even if they could they likely can't get through first-party that fast. Odds are that the bug was being tracked internally for a long time - as you said, the bug's been there since launch, so it's probably been there since alpha and beta as well - and they've only now managed to fix it in a way that doesn't cause trouble elsewhere, so it got rolled into the MUT winter content refresh.Comment

The timing is convenient, granted. However, it is not uncommon in big games and/or software projects for a fix to a known issue can be delayed because applying that change creates a new bug or bugs somewhere else. Stomping out a bug in a way that doesn't add any new problem spots can take time, and releasing a bug fix which creates more problems than it solves doesn't make anyone happy.

Yep the event happened 10 days ago. From what we have heard before that it takes about a week for patches to get through certification. So that gives EA 2 days to fix this glitch. Because the event ended around 11pm EST on the 3rd. So if the work Sundays, they would have all day Sunday and Monday to find, repeat, fix and get through testing to fix the fix didn't break anything else to fix this glitch. Like I said before the competitors knew about the glitch before the tournament started and DJones in the heat of the moment playing in front of hundreds of thousands of people as the game had something like 10K watching on Twitch plus whatever the viewership was on the NFLN.Comment

Maybe they will add a big decision to over/under inflate the ball depending on whether you are punting into or against the wind.Comment
