Alright so week 1 is in the books and what a game we had in Chicago against Hundley!
He led the opening drive going something like 7/7 or 8/8 and got them the opening TD to go up 7-0. They we're completely shutting down our run game and Rodgers just couldn't get anything going in the entire first half. Our defense did finally show up though and held them to only a FG the rest of the half, making it 10-0 at the break.
We opened the second half with a good drive but only managed a FG, they came right back on and made a FG of their own to make it 13-3. Then after finally getting some good runs late in the 3rd Rodgers manages to find E.J. Bibbs wide open down the sideline off play-action for a 57yd TD! It's a 3 point game now, 13-10 at the beginning of the 4th.
After getting the ball back after stopping the Bears, Rodgers managed a quick long drive down the field that ended in him finding Randall Cobb for a 9yd TD. Packers take a 17-13 lead with just under 10 to go. But on the next drive Hundley was hungry to take down his former team, leading a magnificent 70+yd drive taking up almost 5 minutes of clock. Finally culminating in 2nd and 5 from the GB 12 with 6:56 to go. Hundley calls Read Option and pulls it back and takes off to his left on the outside, Clinton-Dix catches him from behind at the 5 and Randall hits him at the 4, but he manages to shrug them off and keep his feet! Gunter manages to grab him at the 1 but Hundley fights him off and scores the go-ahead TD! 17-20 Bears.
So Rodgers gets the ball back and in true veteran style showing the young buck Hundley he doesn't know everything yet, leads his own beautiful 4+minute drive down the field. The drive stalled out at the 3 for a moment, but then Chicago blitzed and Rodgers saw it and almost instantly threw it backwards to Eddie Lacy in the backfield and he ran it in for the go-ahead score! This play was technically counted as a 3yd TD Run for Lacy, 24-20 Packers.
So Hundley and the Bears get the ball back with just over 2 to go. They manage to drive the ball down to the 33 with about 1:10 to go, Hundley throws a short pass out to the sideline and it's called incomplete. The play goes under review and is reversed, but he caught it at the 33 anyway so no gain. 2nd & 10 1:02 to go, They send Jeremy Hill up the middle but there are no upfield blockers so I catch him with Matthews at the 31 for a gain of 2. 3rd & 8 :51 to go, Hundley drops back and has plenty of time but air tight coverage from Green Bay forces him to just throw it away bringing up 4th down. 4th & 8 :46 to go, Hundley drops back and lets it rip deep to the endzone towards Alshon Jeffery. He throws it high and Jeffery and Randall both sky high to get it, Jeffery grabs it in the air but on the way down Randall knocks his hands away forcing the ball to drop to the ground incomplete! Great stand by the Packer D and they seal the week 1 victory.
Check out the game from Hundley, He just might do very well over in Chicago. He is definitely ready to start in this league, but Rodgers had to show him he was still the man in this division lol. Also notice that the Bears somehow picked up Jeremy Hill pretty cool.

This was maybe the best game I've played yet.... Except maybe that playoff game last season against Philadelphia. This makes me so excited this is the first time I've ever been able to
play Madden this much to get actual seasons in and get storylines like these!
I'm gonna play this season through with my set-up so I can see the effectiveness of my slight changes, then if I'm happy with those changes I'll start working on Penalties next season. So far I'm pretty happy with the set-up that was a great 1st game. Definitely recommend both Skins QB Edits and Josh's Scheme Edits. For the first time I can actually say I'm very very happy with Madden.
This is how close they came to taking the lead.
