Cutting off baseline = Blocking fouls ?
How can I stop people from going baseline without it being a foul? I'm already in front of the person and they just charge into me and go out of bounds. But the game calls blocking foul every time. I was taught to use the baseline as a second defender.

Re: Cutting off baseline = Blocking fouls ?
Don't ask questions you know the answers to. 2k will NEVER get defense right. They were on to something back in 2k9 when you could shade your opponent, but other than that, 2k has gone out of their way to patch offense out of the game because the defense just cannot match the offense.. going baseline gets you either a foul call, or if you succeed, you force them In to that weird Eurostep out of bounds animation which no professional collegiate or high school basketball player has ever been recorded doing. Who the French mo capped that animation anyways? Defense is super sluggish and the offensive player cuts are way faster than the lateral movement of the defensive players. How they haven't seen this is beyond my understanding. Also the players feel super heavy and ever since 2k11, they just don't feel the same. 2k11 the my players felt light and you could crossover and left right and stop on a dime at your hearts content. Now because everyone cries and complains and 2k wants to "cut the cheese out" You can't move as freely as you used to and people will continue to complain about the defense in the game until 2k addresses this legacy issue. -
Re: Cutting off baseline = Blocking fouls ?
I have this problem every night especially when dealing with point guards.
I'll have them beat to the spot yet every time I get drawn into an animation where they get "pushed" out of bounds but a dude standing still is the one who did it.Comment

You could last year.Comment

Re: Cutting off baseline = Blocking fouls ?
In fairness, sometimes this should be called a foul.
If you are turbo bumping them then it should be a foul.
If you are riding them along the baseline it shouldn't
It is called WAY too often and almost every time it's called wrong.
But, there are times when it should be called.Comment

Re: Cutting off baseline = Blocking fouls ?
Yep. No exaggeration, it's almost an auto-foul just by holding L2. My only solution to this (big man, btw) is to just hold the right stick toward the basket. Can't press square. Can't press L2. Maybe a charge could work too?How can I stop people from going baseline without it being a foul? I'm already in front of the person and they just charge into me and go out of bounds. Probably the most nonsensical animation on the game. Irritates the hell out of me.
By the way, many of the blocking fouls on this game aren't blocking fouls. The ballhandler moves an inch and you're in a defensive stance is a blocking foul and it's called way too much.Comment

Tried charge and the guy bounced off of me for an easy dunk. I'll try your tips too though.#1 Laker fan

Re: Cutting off baseline = Blocking fouls ?
2K16 and 2K17 both use the same logic in Pro Am where any time that the dribbler steps out of bounds while making contact with a defender it's an automatic blocking foul 100% of the time.
The weird thing is that in 2K16/2K17 MyPark and Blacktop, the exact opposite logic exists. There are no blocking fouls called in that same situation, and it just ends up being an out of bounds turnover on the dribbler 100% of the time.
2K17 should be using that MyPark/Blacktop out of bounds logic in Pro Am as well IMO. The sideline and baseline should be acting as a second and third defender, not as an offensive bail out mechanic.
Unfortunately, 2K17 has also added some new shooting foul animations along the baseline that didn't exist in 2K16 MyPark or Pro Am where the defender will get sucked into a contact animation with the shooter and the ball will bounce off both of their bodies. Those animations seem to have about a 50/50 chance of being a foul or a no call, regardless of whether you're in MyPark, Blacktop, or Pro Am. And defenders can get sucked into those two-man animations even if they're just standing still and not doing anything but holding the left trigger. I wish 2K would just take those animations out of the game since they look weird and don't make sense for the offensive or defensive player.Comment

Basically rewarding a user for pressing turbo and running out of bounds, what else is new.Comment

Re: Cutting off baseline = Blocking fouls ?
Not that this is likely what is happening but....
If iRL you force your offensive player to either the sideline and or baseline and you as a defender place a foot out of bounds to stop that movement it's an automatic blocking foul now. The ability to put your foot out of bounds as a defender is no longer available IRL as that rule changed about 7 years ago.Comment

Re: Cutting off baseline = Blocking fouls ?
That's good to know. Thing is I'm not forcing offensive player baseline . They are trying to abuse baseline drives but I hold my ground. If anything it should be an offensive foul. They literally try to run me over to go baseline .Not that this is likely what is happening but....

Re: Cutting off baseline = Blocking fouls ?
That's not the foul he's talking about. It's a baseline drive to the rim, and your player "pulled" into a blocking or shooting foul. Not that this is likely what is happening but....
