Anyone tried no conf title games?
I'm thinking about setting up a dynasty with no conference title games, which in the game requires all conferences to have 11 teams or less (unless a modder has figured this one out). Has anyone tried this and if so, what does your conference alignment look like?13-Time World Champions: 1929, 1930, 1931, 1936, 1939, 1944, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1996, 2010

Re: Anyone tried no conf title games?
I actually just did this
All 10 conferences with 11 teams, spread out the elite teams to make it even across the board. What I found is that noone would win a conference championship.
For example: Texas was 12-0 in thr MWC. But, their conference championship stat never updated for that year.
There last conf champ continued to say 2009 or something as the last. -

Re: Anyone tried no conf title games?
I've done it and it's kind of fun. It does take a lot of Independent teams though, but that's another part of the fun.
It doesn't change that much though.

Re: Anyone tried no conf title games?
Can't be done because there is a limit on how many independents are allowed (36 if I recall correctly). Besides, you wouldn't want to do it even if you could. The conference teams would have to play 3 FCS teams per year to fill the 7 game minimum conference schedule.Comment

The max number of independents is 32. I would love to try 86 independents.
And yeah, for any conference with fewer than 8 teams, the game will tack on additional FCS games in place of conference games.

Re: Anyone tried no conf title games?
does anyone have a conference alignment that they like to use for this? I'm having a hard time pulling out teams to make conferences all with fewer than 12 teams.13-Time World Champions: 1929, 1930, 1931, 1936, 1939, 1944, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1996, 2010

Now all the conferences don't have an equal number of teams, but they are pretty close to past history.

Re: Anyone tried no conf title games?
I went with some old bowl alignments...
Rose Bowl: Big Ten and Pac-12
Orange Bowl: Big XII (Big 8)
Sugar Bowl: SEC
Fiesta Bowl: no affiliations
The ACC and American (Big East) weren't locked into a particular bowl, but they would be an AQ in the BCS.
The Sun Belt (Southwestern Conference) champion would play in the Cotton Bowl usually against the #2 team from the SEC, Big XII (Big 8), or a strong Independent. Back then, the Cotton Bowl was comparable to the Rose, Sugar, and Orange Bowls in stature. I'm sure you could make the Sun Belt (SWC) champion an AQ into the BCS if you wanted to.Comment

Re: Anyone tried no conf title games?
just finished the last week of the regular season trying this out and the weirdest thing happens. when trying to advance the week to "championship week" (keep in mind there are no championship games, it auto advances all the way through bowl season. it sims all the bowl games but just doesn't stop to let me actually play it. anyone seen this? so bizarre
also I did not get my conference trophy awarded either.Last edited by thekodinator; 01-24-2017, 01:13 AM.13-Time World Champions: 1929, 1930, 1931, 1936, 1939, 1944, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1996, 2010
