Prologue

I've lurked on this site for a while, mostly on the dynasty forum. I've read through dynasties from guys like Deegeezy and Cheese2121, so I decided to try it out for myself. Any feedback from y'all here at OS will be much appreciated. I will be adopting the character of HC Acey Reese. (QB from my M12 Seahawks franchise, I'll tell the backstory) I intend on running this dynasty for a long time, 20+ seasons, but I'll warn you guys, updates may be slow at times. I want to be a basketball player and training takes up a lot of my time. I'm in the gym pretty much every day, and when my AAU season starts, I'll be in tournaments regularly. Sometimes I'm too tired to even play the game. Also I have to keep my grades up, so those 2 things are my priorities. Without any further ado, let me introduce this dynasty.

Quick Statement

This dynasty will be as realistic as possible. If y'all don't like something I'm doing, think it's unrealistic, let me know. I chose South Alabama cause I wanted to really have to grind my way to the top.

Settings

Game: NCAA 14 on Xbox 360
Heisman difficulty offense and defense
8 minute quarters
Modified Heisman sliders, I'll update with the set when it's final
Normal game speed
45 threshold (could change)

All games will be played, no simming. Shouldn't take too long to get through seasons, I have a lot of free time Saturday/Sunday afternoons, so that's when most games will be played. (weird schedule, but I just have to fit it in wherever I can)

Recruiting

I won't have any strict house rules, at least for now, but I'll recruit realistically. I'll go for guys who have interest, and pipeline state players at first. You won't see me going for top recruits from across the country in year 1 or anything like that.

Redshirts

I won't redshirt many guys who aren't true freshmen.

Players Leaving

I'll accept transfers for the most part, unless we're stacked at that position. Nobody will be convinced to stay unless they're a surefire starter next season. No player leaving for the draft will be convinced to stay.

Coach backstories

HC Acey Reese

Acey Reese has always started from the bottom. A 2 star recruit out of Peoria, Illinois, Reese was overlooked coming out of high school despite winning back to back State titles in his junior and senior seasons. The schools that did want him didn't think he had the accuracy to play QB, they wanted his 6'5 height and 4.4 speed at WR.

But he wanted to play QB, so he went to the only school that would give him a chance: New Mexico State. He started as a true freshman and immediately made an impact, putting up over 2500 passing yards and 850 rushing yards, racking up 37 total scores, leading his team to a bowl victory. He showed steady improvement in his sophomore and junior seasons, then broke onto the national scene as a senior. Accumulating 3300 passing yards and 1700 rushing yards, along with 48 total scores, Reese carried New Mexico St. to an 12-2 record and bowl victory, finishing 4th in Heisman voting.

Despite this, he still wasn't considered a first rounder, and slid to the Seahawks at number 53, and turned out to be one of the biggest steals ever. He passed for 3300 yards and 23 scores as a rookie, and passed for over 3000 yards and 20 scores in 8 of the 11 full seasons he played. He finished his career with 43814 passing yards, 333-147 TD-INT ratio, and 2335 yards and 17 scores on the ground in 17 seasons. He was surprisingly only a 4 time Pro Bowler and 1 time MVP winner, but he was certainly the leader of his team every year, winning a record 8 Super Bowls. Now he'll start his second career, coaching lowly South Alabama, fresh off a 2-10 season in their first year in the FBS. He'll implement the pistol-shotgun offense that brought him so much college and NFL success.

OC Ivan Kirk

At offensive coordinator, Reese brought in his longtime #1 receiver and good friend, Ivan Kirk. Kirk was a late first round pick out of Missouri who broke out in his second year with 1467 yards and 17 scores. He had upwards of 1000 yards in every season he played after that, barring an injury riddled 11th year, with his finest season coming at the age of 33. He caught 110 balls for 1850 yards and 14 touchdowns. He finished his career with 8 rings as well, racking up 18754 yards and 154 scores on 1193 catches.

DC Xavier Stevenson

Standing at 6'2, 195 lbs with 4.3 speed, Stevenson was the prototypical cornerback. He was a can't miss prospect, playing CB, WR, and returning kicks throughout his high school career in Detroit. He stayed fairly close to home for college, choosing to play at Michigan, where he racked up 17 interceptions in 3 years as a starter. He took 4 of those back to the house, adding to his 11 return and 7 receiving scores. He was a projected top 5 pick in a loaded draft. A blessing in disguise for Seattle, they had lost Reese for the season that year, and the backup just couldn't win games. They selected 4th, and Stevenson was snapped up in what was regarded as a steal. Stevenson started strong, immediately becoming a shutdown corner, intercepting 47 passes in his first 8 years. Sadly, injuries forced him into an early retirement, or we could be talking about the greatest DB to ever play the game. Having him on the coaching staff should really help South Alabama's secondary to develop.

South Alabama AD Joel Erdmann announced yesterday that former star NFL QB Acey Reese will coach South Alabama


Reese replaces Joey Jones as head coach at South Alabama

MOBILE, Alabama. - After the sudden retirement of 5 year coach Joey Jones, and both coordinators taking head coaching jobs, South Alabama needed a new coaching staff. Enter Acey Reese, the former Seahawks QB and 8 time Super Bowl winner. Reese has expressed his interest in coaching on several occasions, but nobody expected him to coach this soon, just 2 years removed from his retirement.

Reese brings with him his former teammates Ivan Kirk and Xavier Stevenson, who will be the new offensive and defensive coordinators, respectively. The trio will face a tough challenge, trying to bring a program just just 2 seasons ago was an FCS team, to the top. But athletic director Joel Erdmann believes that he's got the right men for the job.

"There's really no better candidate. I mean these guys won 8 Super Bowls. As far as bringing a winning mentality to our program, who's done more at the highest level than these guys? Acey Reese is right up there with guys like Brady and Manning as far as being fundamentally sound. He can teach our quarterbacks so much. Kirk is what, 5'8, a buck 70, and he went for 1800 yards at the age of 33. Who does that? I remember him coming out of college, all he had was a go route, couldn't catch for ****. But he just works so hard. I believe he'll bring that same work ethic to coaching. I don't really know Stevenson, to be honest. Acey wanted him here, and I trust his judgement. Hell of a player, I think he'll make a pretty good coach too."

Reese knows bringing the Jaguars to the top will be no easy feat.
"Easy? Hell no it won't be easy. But I ain't get to where I was today by looking for the easy route. This is gonna be a long road, but I believe that this program will win a national championship with me in charge.", Reese said in an interview.

"I never imagined myself here. I always wanted to coach, but I never thought a head coaching job would come so soon. And to get to coach with Ivan and X, man that's really a dream come true. This program has a long way to go to get to the top of college football. But there ain't nobody who knows winning better than me man. This is gonna be a long and tough process, but I believe in hard work and discipline. Those got me to where I am today. I'm changing the culture of this program, man, me Ivan and X got this."

Reese made a good first impression, recieving a hearty round of applause after his speech. Many audience members called his speech motivating and loved his confidence. Reese's former coach in Seattle, and former NFL linebacker London Fletcher was in attendance, along with Reese's cousin and current Seahawks superstar safety Lamar Molette. Both praised Reese's attention to detail, work ethic, and leadership. "As a player, he was one of those dudes who coach never had to yell at to work harder. He was always the first one to practice and the last one to leave. He's the kind of dude who makes you wanna work harder.", said Molette. "Imma be watching this South Alabama team and all y'all should too, I think they'll surprise quite a few people."

Yeah it's cool to post. You and Geezy the guys who really got me into these dynasties man, so I gotta shout y'all out. Y'all really inspired me to try this out. Keep up the great work on your end, loving the Eastern Michigan dynasty. I should have the first few games up this weekend. Imma show my recruits, the top guys in the nation, my roster, my depth chart, heisman watch, etc. tomorrow most likely.

Echoing the sentiments of Cheese, I appreciate the compliments and it is fulfilling to know that I could play a part in inspiring someone else to give this a try.

My best advice is to just not wear yourself out. That's usually what makes these first time start-ups fizzle.

When it starts to feel like "work," rein it in a little. You gotta find that sweet spot of where you feel like you are putting in good effort but that it also isn't becoming a burden for you to do.
